This contractor role is intended to support delivery by providing industry-specific guidance and support to internal teams delivering on New Economy projects and offerings. Contractors will play a role in supporting the mapping of local supplier ecosystems by identifying key players, gaps in the supply chain, and areas where local suppliers need support. This may include supporting the analysis of supply chain data, industry trends, and market needs to inform strategic decisions. Additionally, contractors will provide guidance and technical support in the development of resources and programs to help small and mid-sized suppliers meet industry standards and compete in the market.

Industry Expertise and Technical Advisory:
  • Provide specialized industry expertise to support and assess supplier landscapes within the automotive manufacturing, EV charger infrastructure, or offshore wind sectors
  • Offer internal knowledge to project teams regarding current industry trends, supply chain component breakdowns, and relevant industry terminology
  • Provide technical advisory on project methodology and identify relevant data sources

Relationship Building:
  • Utilize existing connections and foster new relationships or partnerships within the industry to facilitate collaboration and convening between public and private stakeholders

Stakeholder and Ecosystem Mapping:
  • Support efforts in mapping key stakeholders, suppliers, and ecosystem partners relevant to the industry and region
  • Identify and document programs at the local, regional, or federal levels that could benefit or impact the supplier ecosystem

Support in Research and Client Deliverables:
  • Contribute to the regional industry supplier landscape research, including reviewing and supporting the development of interview guides, surveys, and other client-facing materials that are essential for gathering insights and feedback from stakeholders
  • Participate in calls and interviews with clients, key stakeholders, and small businesses to gather insights and foster relationships.

Curriculum and Program Design Advisory:
  • Review and provide input on the development of curriculum, training, and program materials designed to enhance supplier development
  • Ensure that the curriculum and supplier programs addresses industry-specific needs and enhances manufacturing capabilities among suppliers

Support in Analysis and Recommendations:
  • Support the process of sourcing and collecting data from small businesses through focus groups, surveys, and 1:1 interviews
  • Actively support the identification of growth opportunities and areas where small to medium-sized suppliers can be better integrated into the broader industry supply chain
  • Propose solutions and strategies to bridge gaps and support the scaling of local suppliers to meet industry demands

Qualifications

Relevant expertise in:
  • Marine engineering and offshore construction, and/or knowledge of wind energy systems, particularly offshore wind farm

Experience in the following preferred:
  • Experience with offshore wind farm projects, from planning to execution
  • Previous work with companies and suppliers involved in renewable energy, particularly those focused on wind energy
  • Educational background in marine engineering, environmental science, or renewable energy, with relevant certifications like PMP or similar
