National Grid has an immediate need for two Gas Technical Training Instructors. These positions are located in the Millbury Training Center in Massachusetts (on-site).
Job Purpose
To deliver high quality learning experiences that meet gas clients' technical, regulatory and safety learning needs through a blended learning approach (theory & hands-on teaching).
Key Accountabilities
• Deliver technical training programs to field technicians through a blended learning approach (theory & hands-on teaching).
• Conduct Annual Expert Training (AET), Gas Operator Qualification, and gas progression schools in accordance with 49CFR 192.3 regulation and MDPU 220 CMR.
• Utilize Operator Qualification (OQ) guidelines per company policy (GEN01100).
• Exhibit willingness to learn and teach new programs and methods of instruction.
• Administer and conduct physical pre-entry assessment for field technicians.
• Conduct training on gas equipment, (theory and hands-on practical), demonstrate company approved methods of gas installations to field personnel.
• Liaise and develop strong relationships with yard coordinators, schedulers in different yards. Represent technical training as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) including governing bodies, transformation teams and technical committees.
• Conduct assessments of training needs associated with the introduction and revision of procedures and policies.
• Utilize Roll Call system for attendance and schedule classes in the LMS (Learning Management System).
Requirements
• A minimum of 3-5 years of direct gas field experience.
• Supervisory experience and college degree. Advanced degree preferred.
• Knowledge of gas maintenance, customer meter services, damage prevention, corrosion and Operator Qualifications (OQ) and regulations such as Federal 49 CFR 192.3 & MDPU 220 CMR.
• Thorough knowledge of gas related equipment such as meters, regulators, CGI, fittings, valves, McElroy 28 fusion machine, squeeze offs, Plastic Joining qualifications (PJQ), electrofusion processors, line locating equipment etc.
• Good oral, written communication skills include active listening and presentation.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills, be a team player and possess ability to collaborate with others handling multiple tasks and meet performance targets.
• Working knowledge of computer systems, I-pad, word, excel etc.
• Must be able to work special assignments, storm duty and other duties as assigned by the Company management.

$77k - $91k a year
