Saturn has an opportunity for an 8, 12, or 16-month Reservoir Engineering Internship/Co-op Student based in the Calgary, Alberta office starting January 2025. Reporting to the Manager, Development Engineering, the Co-op Student will collaborate with the technical teams as a support on operational and engineering matters.

Some specific duties, and responsibilities of the Engineering Student include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in the evaluation and analysis of reservoir performance and behaviour
  • Support the development of reservoir models to de-risk and predict future performance
  • Conduct routine data collection & analysis, including pressure, production, & injection data
  • Collaborate with engineers to design & implement enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques
  • Participate in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and documentation
  • Support the integration of geological, petrophysical, and production data for comprehensive reservoir assessments
  • Help in the development and optimization of Saturn's conventional oil pools
  • Monitor and interpret reservoir performance metrics
  • Prepare and submit government applications
  • Build and curate business intelligence tools for the engineering team, like Power BI dashboards
  • Attend, where applicable, internal and external meetings
  • Support other engineers and managers with ad hoc requests as required.

Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's and co-op/internship program, pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum/Energy
  • Student must be able to commit to at least an 8-month term, with the role being open to those seeking 12 or 16-month placements as well
  • Able to commence the internship in January 2025
  • If applicable, the student must be willing to relocate to Calgary for the duration of the term
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude with a strong desire to learn and contribute
  • Previous experience in the oil and gas industry is considered an asset but not mandatory
  • Preference may be given to students with experience using data analytics tools (e.g. Power BI, Spotfire) or with coding (e.g. Python, R).
