Role Overview: Join our dynamic operations team as a Procurement Specialist, where you'll drive efficient procurement processes and foster strong vendor relationships. Your role is critical in maintaining the balance between supply and demand, ensuring timely and quality procurement of goods and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with operations to understand procurement needs and request vendor quotes.
- Participate in the vendor approval process and maintain accurate procurement records.
- Order goods in appropriate quantities to balance supply and demand.
- Coordinate with planning teams to generate and communicate service Purchase Orders (POs).
- Monitor and follow up with vendors on procurement and delivery schedules.
- Resolve procurement-related issues with vendors.
- Identify and implement procurement process improvements.
- Liaise with accounts payable and ensure compliance with local regulations, API, and ISO standards.
- Represent the purchasing department during API and ISO audits.
- Develop strong relationships with key suppliers, evaluating their performance based on cost, quality, and delivery.
- Analyze market trends to expand the vendor base and identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Coordinate with global locations to meet unmet goods demand.
- Conduct regular vendor evaluations and site visits to diversify the regional vendor base.
- Collaborate with quality control and verification authorities for inspection activities.
- Stay updated on plant operations and equipment design to plan effectively.
- Review non-conformances and engineering changes to ensure supplier compliance.
- Obtain technical guidance from engineering and manufacturing experts to resolve procurement issues.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or diploma (3-year degree) with 5-8 years of procurement experience, or an Engineering degree (4-year degree) with 3-5 years of procurement experience.
- Proven experience in contract negotiations and procurement processes in a manufacturing setting.
- Technical procurement experience in a technological organization.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Action-oriented and results-driven with strong time management.
- Proficient in conflict management and negotiation.
- Strong analytical skills and sound judgment.
- Experience with ERP systems and MS Office Suite.
- Understanding of supply chain fundamentals and data visualization.
- Ability to comprehend technical specifications and drawings.
- Basic knowledge of materials science and manufacturing processes like machining, welding, and painting.
