OVERVIEW

BlueHalo is seeking an analytical chemist to support the 711th Human Performance Wing at Wright-Patterson AFB. This position will interface between the Force Health Protection team and the Bioanalytics Analytical Chemistry Team within the 711th Human Performance Wing. The person filling this role will be part of a diverse, multidisciplinary research team with a mission to develop solutions focused on addressing occupational and environmental hazards in Air Force environments, focused on Warfighter Health.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The successful candidate for this role will be responsible for collecting and analyzing samples from military systems using a broad spectrum of analytical techniques including but not limited to gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS), proton transfer reaction mass spectrometry (PTR-MS), and real-time electrochemical and optical gas sensors. The successful applicant will have experience working in a laboratory, documenting methods, and recording and processing results into technical reports and presentations. Additional responsibilities may include participating in field sampling efforts or guiding collection of field samples to meet project goals. The successful candidate will be an independent self-starter, have excellent organizational and time management skills, demonstrable written and oral communication skills, and thrive in a collaborative, team-based environment.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL BRING

• M.S. Degree in a relevant field (i.e. chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science/engineering) and 2-5 years of experience

OR

• B.S. Degree in a relevant field (i.e. chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science/engineering) and 5+ years of experience
• Demonstrated experience and training in operating and calibrating analytical chemistry equipment.
• Experience with mass spectrometry is preferred.
• Experience with gas-phase analytical chemistry is preferred.
• This position may require occasional travel (10%)
• This position is on-site at a government facility and requires U.S. citizenship
• The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain a security clearance
