The Mining Industry Development Manager will lead sales initiatives and business development strategies specifically tailored to the metals beneficiation industry. This role requires a deep understanding of chemical applications in mineral extraction operations, as well as a proven track record in sales to multi-national mining companies. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in expanding our market presence and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Strategy Development: Create and implement strategic sales plans targeting the mining sector, focusing on chemical products and services that enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.
- Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape in the mining industry.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, including mining operations, procurement teams, and with safety and technical personnel to understand their requirements and provide tailored solutions.
- Technical Support: Collaborate with the technical team to deliver product training and support to clients, ensuring successful application of chemical solutions. Experience in flotation, solvent extraction, hydrometallurgical and water treatment processes and related chemistries is very helpful.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, product development, and operations teams to align sales efforts with business goals and product offerings.
- Performance Metrics: Track and report on sales and profitability performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Industry Representation: Represent Thatcher Company, Inc. at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer meetings to enhance brand visibility and foster partnerships.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mining Engineering, or a related field (preference for graduates from Colorado School of Mines).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical sales to multi-national mining operations, with a focus on gold, copper, uranium, salt, and rare earth minerals.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and developing business in the mining sector.
- Strong understanding of mining operations, processes, and applications of specialty chemicals.
- Experience in sales management, working through account managers to bring value to our Customers and to our Company.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to travel as needed to meet clients and attend industry events.
