JOB SUMMARY

The Mining Engineering Intern will be based out of the Dolese corporate office in Oklahoma City, OK. This position will assist the Engineering team in multiple tasks including mineral exploration, surveying, and operations support, as well as gaining other aggregate operational experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Work at multiple quarry and sand plant operations to locate and document utility locations
  • Assist with updating, managing, and maintaining company GIS database
  • Assist with GPS and drone surveying
  • Assist with exploration and sampling of rock and sand properties
  • Perform drafting for mid- and long-term mine planning
  • Assist with project management as required
  • Regular attendance at the worksite or assigned work location

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mining Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with modeling software (AutoCAD, Carlson Mining Software, Surpac, etc.)
  • Some experience in mining or the aggregate industry preferred
  • Experience with ESRI GIS Software preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong engineering and technical skills
  • Ability to create and understand complex Excel spreadsheets
  • Ability to work independently with some guidance
  • Excellent communication, observation, and reading comprehension skills
  • Ability to engage and influence all levels of the organization
  • Ability to multi-task and handle large workloads under time constraints
  • Ability to understand and apply analytical and statistics tools
  • Results-oriented with strong process and execution skills
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, nights, and weekends
  • Must have the ability to work outside for extended periods of time
  • Currently possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lift objects repeatedly of various dimensions and up to 50 lbs. of weight
  • Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and climb ladders
  • Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
  • Ability to tolerate working in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions
  • Ability to repeatedly reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting
  • Ability to repeatedly walk on uneven surfaces
