- Supervise warehouse daily activities to deliver an efficient, cost-effective materials management service to the company.
- Plan and organize the storage and protection of all materials and equipment in accordance to supplier recommendations or specific storage requirements and health and safety requirements.
- Materials management and control including inventory control, material issue and receipt, safe storage, classification and identification.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate designated personnel and equipment engaged in warehouse activities in close coordination with HSE and other functions that utilize warehouse services.
- Organize the allocation of warehouse resources in a manner that will ensure all warehouse activities are achieved in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
- Ensure that daily warehouse equipment safety and maintenance checks are carried out and that all warehouse equipment is serviceable, clean, free from defects and fit-for-purpose.
- Arrange for prompt replacement or repair of damaged or defective warehouse materials handling equipment.
- Implement procedures, standards and guidelines necessary to ensure that material placement and movement is properly controlled and that all material is traceable.
- Implement procedures, guidelines and work practices that will ensure correct storage, packing and segregation of different materials (electrical and electronic, perishables, equipment, pipes, etc.).
- Implement procedures, guidelines and work practices that will ensure obsolete, scrap and rejected material identification and material segregation, storage, write-off and disposal are handled in accordance with statutory requirements and company policy.
- Organize timely and efficient loading and unloading off vessels and delivery trucks and ensure that material inspection and quarantine procedures are correctly applied.
- Implement procedures and work practices to ensure effective and accurate inventory control of warehouse and stock yards.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree or a materials management professional qualification/diploma
- Minimum 6 years materials management and stock control experience, with 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
