RESPEC seeks a temporary part-time mining engineering student intern located in our Lexingotn, KY location for Summer 2025.

Job Description

The intern will be expected to work 40 hours a week during the summer with an option to work an average of 10 to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Primary activities for this position include assisting in projects that involve geologic and reserves modeling, mine planning, environmental engineering, and permitting. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of experienced engineering and geological staff in these areas.

Qualifications

Ideal candidate will have the following:
  • Must be working toward a bachelor of science or advanced degree in geological, mechanical, mining, civil engineering, or related field
  • Experience and/or education using AutoCAD, IntelliCAD, Carlson software, Surpac, or other mine planning software
  • Strong computer skills, especially in using spreadsheets and databases
  • Flexibility to work on various projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, be able to communicate effectively in writing and orally, and be self-motivated.

Additional Information

Compensation: Hourly wage depends on education and experience, range is $20-25/hour, plus statutory insurance requirements.
