Overview:

The Interior Design Review Specialist is responsible for evaluating and approving interior design plans submitted by consultants, ensuring alignment with project specifications, client expectations, and local and international standards.

The specialist will ensure that all interior design elements are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and compliant with regulatory standards, while coordinating with multiple disciplines to achieve a seamless design integration.

Responsibilities:

• Interior Design Review and Approval:
  
  • Review and approve interior design plans, ensuring that they meet project specifications, client needs, and both local and international design standards.
  • Assess designs for functionality, space planning, material usage, and aesthetics to ensure the final output aligns with project goals.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, sustainability requirements, and project-specific criteria to maintain high design standards.
• Coordination with Design Teams:
  
  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that interior designs integrate seamlessly with the overall project.
  • Facilitate clear communication between the interior design team and other disciplines to ensure that all design elements are coordinated within the larger project framework.
• Quality Control and Compliance:
  
  • Implement quality control processes to ensure that interior designs meet local regulations, international standards, and project requirements.
  • Conduct regular compliance checks to verify adherence to applicable codes, safety regulations, and client specifications.
• Technical Problem Solving:
  
  • Resolve interior design challenges related to space planning, material selection, and functionality, ensuring that solutions are efficient, compliant, and meet the project's goals.
  • Provide technical guidance to overcome complex design issues, ensuring that optimal solutions are implemented while adhering to regulatory standards.
• Documentation and Reporting:
  
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all design review activities, including approvals, revisions, and recommendations, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
  • Ensure that all design-related documentation is properly submitted in line with project timelines and regulatory requirements.
• Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
  
  • Act as the primary contact for interior design-related queries from clients, ensuring that their vision is reflected in the final design while maintaining functionality and compliance.
  • Participate in client and stakeholder meetings to provide design updates, feedback, and recommendations, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives.

Competency Requirements:

• Proven experience in interior design review for large-scale construction projects, with expertise in space planning, materials, and aesthetics.
• In-depth knowledge of interior design standards, building codes, and sustainable design practices.
• Expertise in reviewing interior design plans for compliance with local and international codes, as well as project-specific goals.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to provide clear feedback and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary design teams.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education:
  
  • BSc Holders: Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field from a recognized Western-accredited university, with over 15 years of relevant experience.
  • MSc Holders: Master's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field from a recognized Western-accredited university, with over 12 years of relevant experience.
• Professional Membership:
  
  • Chartered membership in a recognized institution (e.g., IID, NCIDQ, or equivalent).
• Experience:
  
  • 10-15 years of experience in interior design review, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Language Skills:
  
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Arabic is an asset.
• Other Skills:
  
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and listening), with the ability to interact effectively with project stakeholders and multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, ensuring that interior designs are compliant, functional, and aligned with the project's vision.
