JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our Electric Power Systems Engineer collects information from our transmission owners and market participants in order to build the data models for MISO's systems that run, protect, and plan the future of the electric grid.
You will be part of an experienced and diverse team foundational to achieving MISO's core vision of being the most reliable, value-creating RTO.
As a Electric Power Systems Engineer, you will also have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects at MISO to implement a Model Management System, upgrade our Energy Management System, improve the Day-Ahead and Real-Time Market System, and incorporate Distributed Energy Resources into the MISO planning, operations, and market systems.
Lastly, as a Modeling Services Engineer, you will be able to apply your technical skills, interpersonal skills, and knowledge of power systems to satisfy our many customers, both internal and external to MISO.

- You have taken the lead and responsibility for maintaining and improving a portion of MISO's model.
- You are helping to build and craft MISO's future modeling processes using the MISO Model Manager system.
- You create representative future models used in transmission expansion and resource interconnection and retirement studies to ensure the reliability of the electric grid 1, 2, 5 and 10 years into the future.
- You have gained an understanding of how your work in modeling services impacts dozens of other departments at MISO.
We are looking for hardworking engineers who have:
- At least a Bachelor's degree in any of the following:
- Electrical Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Electrical Engineering Technology
- Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
- At least three years' experience in the field of Engineering.
- Proven experience with power system modeling, power flow software, transmission/distribution planning, state estimation, transient analysis, contingency analysis, or related electric utility electrical engineering work experience
Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
