Job Description: PAE seeks an energetic, flexible, knowledgeable, and team-oriented instructor to teach and coordinate Workforce Training classes, including those offered as a part of two Clean Energy Pre-Apprenticeship programs, and serve as Team Lead for both. PAE's Clean Energy Pre-Apprenticeship program is housed within the Workforce Training Department and is conducted in partnership with local energy companies specializing in Solar Energy and Heat Pump conversions, whose professionals serve as instructors for technical coursework.

Successful candidates will provide rigorous instruction designed to support New Mainers, often with backgrounds in related fields to successfully transfer their knowledge and to adapt or improve their skills to work in the Clean Energy industry in Maine. They will liaise with local energy companies and partner organizations to arrange student learning opportunities; provide professional support and advising to students; and collaborate with other teachers and staff members in the Workforce Training Department, and across PAE. Courses can be offered in person, virtually, or in hybrid format and are offered in the morning, afternoon, and evenings.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Clean Energy program participants and liaison to institutional partners
  • Collaborate with Executive Director and Workforce Training Department Chair to coordinate and develop Clean Energy programming
  • Create highly effective lesson plans using best practices and incorporating digital literacy
  • Track students' overall progress in the Clean Energy programs to fulfill grant requirements
  • Provide career advising, job search support, and wrap-around support as necessary

Required Skills/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Maine State educator certification or eligibility to obtain it
  • Prior teaching or training experience in a classroom or professional setting
  • Experience working with multilingual populations and ESOL students
  • Clear, concise oral and written communication to effectively interact with program participants, PAE colleagues, and external stakeholders
  • Interpersonal skills in order to collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and employers
  • Ability to manage time, set priorities, plan & implement projects effectively
  • An understanding and appreciation of diversity and cultural sensitivity to create an inclusive workplace environment that respects and celebrates individual differences and fosters a respectful and harassment-free environment
  • Excellent computer skills and experience using Google Suite and MS Office
  • Evening availability
  • Availability to begin by November

Preferred
  • Familiarity with the Clean Energy industry or other technical fields
  • PAE alum, immigrant, and/or BIPOC community members are encouraged to apply

Location and Work schedule:
  • PAE offers both in-person and remote classes. In person classes take place at 14 Locust St, Portland, ME.
  • Class schedules vary - morning, afternoon, and evening sessions available

Credential Requirements:

Maine State fingerprint (CHRC) authorization.
