Sustainable Energy Applications & Sales Engineer (Jr. / Sr.)

You are a highly collaborative, customer-curious, and solution-focused individual who is interested in leading energy technology for sustainability and the global Energy Transition toward a Net Zero carbon emissions future. This role will be at the exciting cross section of innovative Sustainable Energy product configuration, and optimized engineering business, and sales as an individual contributor in the Applications Engineering team. This role will generate customer value with timely commercial and technical proposals targeting all markets including the emerging green markets of New Energy, Hydrogen, & Carbon Capture, as well as adapt to defend market share in our traditional markets of Gas Processing, LNG, & Petrochemical.

What is New Energy? This market includes many of our traditional energy recovery applications: Pressure Let Down, Geothermal, Solar and waste heat recovery (including ORC and other processes), and now adds the emerging markets of Energy Storage, Super Critical CO2, Heat Pumps and others that require turboexpanders to support the global green energy market.

Your work will contribute to the Energy Transition with sustainable and innovative turbomachinery solutions from Atlas Copco Mafi-Trench Company that engender transformational customer value strategies in support of the Atlas Copco sustainable growth model.

The compensation (range) for this position is $99,000 to $178,000 annually, and wholly depends on the evaluation of the applicant's skill level. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus. What you will own & improve:
  1. Provide customers with enticing and innovative technical and commercial bids in support of customer due dates.
  2. Daily communication on both technical and commercial aspects of our sustainability focused products with global customers and Atlas Copco internal team-members via email and phone.
  3. Collaborate with various ACMTC departments including Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing to present accurate design and delivery information to prospective customers.

What you already know:
  1. How to build working relationships with cross functional teams to gain support in product proposal development.
  2. You have general product sales skills, including affability, patience, and empathy and can apply these towards the needs of both customers and internal stakeholders.
  3. You have a broad technical understanding of the performance, mechanical, and electrical features of turbomachinery products.

What you will learn (if you don't know already):
  1. The skills necessary to convert green, renewable, and energy industry customer specifications and project requirements into detailed product configurations, technical and commercial proposals.
  2. The commercial risks associated with custom turbomachinery business and how to negotiate key commercial contract terms (i.e. Payment Terms, Delivery, Liquidated Damages, Limitation of Liability, Warranty, etc.).
  3. Occasional travel both domestically and internationally to work with customers' technical and commercial teams in their time and space.
  4. How to develop a network of contacts and working relationships with the greater Gas and Process (GAP) Marketing, Sales, and Applications teams.

How success is Measured:
  • Demonstrating clear and concise written and spoken language with customers and internal stakeholders alike.
  • Meeting agreed deadlines for submittal of complete and accurate budgetary and firm proposals to our customers.
  • Communicating knowledge of sustainable product capabilities, applicable markets, and customer requirements.
  • Maintaining budget accuracy within published Applications team targets.
  • Displaying skill in technical and commercial negotiations
  • Using a positive and collaborative "can-do" attitude in support of our customers.
  • Maintaining compliance with Safety Rules, Regulations and OSHA Requirements.

About the Team:

This role reports to the assigned manager within the Applications Engineering Department and will work and collaborate as an integral part of a tight-knit and dynamic team helping to drive the successful capture of new equipment orders to keep the Atlas Copco Mafi-Trench factory full and satisfied. Other team members and collaborators include Applications Engineering Leads, Application Managers, Applications Engineers, Contracts and Commercial Manager, Machinery Performance Engineer and Product Cost and Configuration Specialist.
