St. Jude is seeking a Nuclear Pharmacist who will oversee all compounding, quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) activities associated with the preparation of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with PET cGMP and state and federal regulations under USP <823>. As a part of our team, you will support a growing menu of clinical research PET tracers by guiding chemists and physician investigators in the preparation of Investigational New Drug (IND) applications. Come join a dynamic and cross-functional team in the Molecular Imaging Core dedicated to producing a variety of PET tracers to support clinical and preclinical research across our institution.

  • Performs QC testing, including chemical and radiochemical purity, sterility and endotoxin testing. Approves the QC test results and authorizes final release of PET radiopharmaceuticals in consultation with the Director. Completes appropriate regulatory documentation. Quality control using analytical equipment and chemical tests according to policies and procedures.
  • Works closely with the Molecular Imaging Core to ensure patient and employee safety, operational efficiency of the facility, and compliance with applicable institutional, state and federal regulations, guidelines and standards. Develops and documents new quality assurance (QA) protocols and standard operating procedures (SOP) for novel radiopharmaceuticals developed in the Molecular Imaging Core Performs and documents quality assurance testing on facility QC instrumentation (HPLC, dose calibrators, etc.).
  • Ensures the compounding and quality assurance of radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with all state and federal regulations, cGMP, radiation safety and policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains records of research radiopharmaceuticals being evaluated. Responsible for compliance of radiopharmaceutical use with hospital electronic medical record system.
  • Provides assistance in the preparation of Investigational New Drug (IND)applications.
  • Oversees radiation safety in the laboratory maintaining ALARA radiation safety practices consistent with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Actively participates in the development of clinical and research radiopharmaceuticals under the direction of the Director.
  • Cross-trains in other duties of the MIC to broaden coverage and expand skillset.
  • Participates in personnel training, competencies, and staff development.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance

Minimum Education and/or Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences required.
  • PharmD, other advanced degree and/or residency in Radiopharmacy preferred.

Minimum Experience:
  • Nuclear pharmacist experience required.
  • Experience in the preparation and quality control analysis of PET radiopharmaceuticals strongly preferred.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:
  • (LC: PHARM-TN) Licensure by the Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy required.
  • If current Non-TN resident license; must obtain licensure by Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy within twelve (12) months of hire.

Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $104,000 - $186,160 per year for the role of Nuclear Pharmacist.
