Your role and responsibilities

Preferred locations for this position are Helsinki, Oslo or Rotterdam. In this role, you will be a key player in technology development as a Technical Product Manager for control and automation solutions focused on marine decarbonization services and system upgrades. Your main responsibility will be the development and technical ownership of control and automation solutions for shore power systems. Additionally, you will support the development of automation upgrades for marine vessels. On a daily basis, you will act as the primary point of contact for technical inquiries related to these solutions. Utilizing your technical expertise, you will lead development tasks, manage documentation, coordinate with key stakeholders, and assist in bidding processes. This role requires close collaboration with our product management, engineering, supply chain management, and sales support teams. - Serving as the product owner for control and automation systems related to shore power. - Managing and creating documentation within the defined product scope. - Leading the development of control automation for shore power systems, energy storage systems, and automation upgrades. - Programing PLCs, including but not limited to the ABB 800M product family and the 800xA integrated automation system, and developing HMI systems within the defined scope. - Ensuring that product requirements meet market demands, aligning R&D features with identified needs. - Acting as the technical point of contact for global sales support and engineering teams within ABB.

Qualifications for the role

• Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Automation or Computer Science).
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Structured Text) and ABB automation products (800xA, 800M).
• Knowledge of marine electric propulsion and power / energy management systems (including batteries and fuel cells).
• Familiarity with older ABB automation systems (e.g., Selma, AC70, AC80, AC110) is a plus.
• Experience in commissioning and engineering is a plus.
• Experience in real-time hardware-in-loop testing is a plus.
• Willingness to travel (approx. 10-15%).
• The following, would be an additional advantage:
• Familiar with marine classification rules.
• Experience in electrical systems such as power converters, switchgear and transformers.
• Experience in green energy and power sources such as Fuel cells, battery energy storages and hydrogen.
