Project Manager - Nuclear (Sizewell C)

Sizewell C. The power of good for Britain.

Location: London or Bristol (hybrid working arrangements)

Employment type: Permanent full-time / part time.
Employment basis: The role is expected to be a full- time position however we are open to discussing a more flexible or part- time approach where possible.
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000, plus bonus and other benefits.

The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy.

Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C, the Sizewell C Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

We are looking for dynamic and experienced Project Managers to deliver engineering and procurement workstreams within the MEH (Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC) sector of the Nuclear Island (NI).

For the Nuclear Island (NI) each Project Manager is part of the team focused on delivery of a group of system(s), building(s) & contracts within the NI programme.

As a Project Manager, your primary focus will be driving contract and package delivery, ensuring projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget and aligned with both business objectives and technical specifications.

The Role

  • As a Project Manager you will own the end-to-end responsibility for delivering a clearly defined scope of procurement and engineering activities. Your role will involve managing high-value (£100m) equipment and bulk material supply contracts, along with the associated engineering activities, ensuring each aspect aligns with the strategic needs of the Sizewell C project.
  • You'll lead and coordinate a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring they contribute effectively to the successful delivery of each contract and area of scope. Leadership will be critical in driving these projects forward, ensuring they are executed safely, on time and within budget, to support the continued success of delivering Sizewell C.
  • This is your opportunity to take charge, influence outcomes, and make a tangible impact on major contracts that are key to the project's success.

The Skills

  • You should bring hands-on experience in managing and administering NEC3/4 contracts, particularly from the Employer's side. This experience will be key.
  • You'll have deep understanding of the complexities in large-scale projects, especially when it comes to managing interfaces (both physical and delivery focused) between different scope areas.
  • You will have excellent communication skills and experience managing and coordinating stakeholders from multiple functions and organisations, including suppliers and their sub-contractors.
  • As a Project Manager you will have experience in managing schedule, cost, risks and opportunities and an awareness of the various tools available.
  • Ideally, you'll have a strong foundation in mechanical, electrical, process, or systems engineering, particularly for large industrial plants.

Desirable:

  • Previous project management experience in the nuclear industry, or a similar regulated industry.

If the above sounds like you, then we'd love to hear from you!

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation - but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We're not just building new nuclear power stations. We're developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there's always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it's also an industry which is changing.

We're a responsible business and proud to be Britain's biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
