Job Summary:

Salas O'Brien is looking to fill energy manager positions to support decarbonization and clean energy initiatives in large multifamily buildings. The energy managers will participate in a multi-year New York State initiative aimed at identifying and evaluating applicable energy and carbon reduction projects for affordable housing buildings. This initiative will encompass a strategic engagement to support implementation of clean energy projects. This position provides significant exposure to property managers and decision makers pursuing decarbonization and clean energy in multifamily buildings.

Job tasks include identification, cost-benefit analysis, and further development of energy efficiency, sustainability, and decarbonization initiatives to meet carbon reduction goals in multifamily buildings. This position will work with building representatives to develop long-term decarbonization plans to meet greenhouse gas reduction targets.

Job tasks include:

• Initiate and develop energy management plan in conjunction with applicable stakeholders
• Develop and maintain an energy tracking and savings system
• Maintain cross-functional energy team and hold regular meetings
• Identify a strategy for measurement and verification of energy initiatives
• Conduct site surveys and reports that identify energy and carbon reduction opportunities
• Review operations and maintenance (O&M) schedule and procedures to identify operational savings opportunities
• Identify, evaluate, and propose energy and carbon reduction projects, including financial analyses
• Prepare quarterly and annual reports that document results
• Provide regular updates including summary presentations to multi-agency stakeholders

Required skills include:

• Minimum of 3 years of energy engineering and/or auditing experience in multifamily buildings
• Industry certifications such as certified energy manager, certified energy auditor, or multifamily building energy analyst
• Understanding of energy engineering principles and carbon reduction strategies in multifamily buildings
• Knowledge of New York City Local Laws, including 84, 87, & 97
• Knowledge of building systems in multifamily buildings including one and two-pipe steam, cooling systems, and ventilation systems
• Familiarity with State and utility incentive programs to assist project and building owners identify funding opportunities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
• High-level communication skills to prepare and present technical reports to board members, property managers, and building operators
