POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Utility Superintendent and Crew leader, performs daily operations relating to the City's municipal water system including complying with all state and federal regulations and fulfills a variety of duties associated with general maintenance of water and wastewater collection system infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge of municipal water systems
Knowledge of general maintenance of water and wastewater collection system infrastructure
Skill in reading gauges, charts, blueprints, and meters
Skill in communication, both verbal and written
Ability to follow safety and security procedures
Ability to effectively work as part of a team
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress that require a range of safety and other precautions, e.g., working at heights, working in manholes and vaults, working in construction sites, frequent/extended exposure to outdoor weather conditions, requirement to work in extreme weather conditions.
Must be able to ascend and descend a ladder.
Must be able to lift 50lbs, stand, stoop, bend, crawl, twist, and walk.

POSITION OVERVIEW

- Performs repairs to lines, booster pumps and lift stations. This may include but is not limited to electrical, plumbing and construction maintenance, operation and repairs.

- Reads gauges, charts, blueprints, meters and other metering devices.
- Performs difficult manual labor and skilled tasks that require use of lifting heavy objects, stooping, bending and twisting.
- Operates a variety of commercial equipment including but not limited to tractors, trenchers, front-end loaders, backhoes, bobcat, skid-loader and other equipment for a variety of construction and maintenance operations involving water and sewer system maintenance and repairs.
- Sets up traffic safety devices such as cones, signs, and barricades as necessary.
- Cleans and repairs work site upon completion of construction including laying grass, replanting trees, and washing down the street.
- Troubleshoots and identifies water and wastewater flow problems; performs corrective action.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Subject to after-hours call out for emergency situations including on call rotation and special events.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
- Valid Texas Class A CDL or the ability to obtain one within 18 months of the hire date.
- Must obtain a TCEQ Class "I" Collection License and a TCEQ "D" Water License within 18 months of hire date.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two Years of Utility Maintenance Experience preferred
