Working at our Vandalia Facilities:
Our Vandalia facility is located 50 minutes north of the GE Aerospace headquarters and sits just north of the city of Dayton-known widely as the birthplace of aviation-where the Wright Brothers built the world's first aircraft in their bicycle shop in the heart of downtown Dayton. This business boasts a rich history, in operation for over 100 years. At over 140,000 square feet, the Vandalia facility rests on 27 acres right off Interstate 75.
At GE Aerospace in Vandalia, we specialize in manufacturing and servicing world-class power generation and electrical control and distribution equipment for a variety of military and commercial customers. Vandalia is also home to a product development lab where operators and engineers work together to invent the future of flight.
Role Overview:
The Site Quality Leader is responsible for executing and evolving the Site Quality Strategy to align with Flight Deck, managing production customer relationships, and complying with all customer, regulatory, and compliance requirements. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment effective cross functional coordination are required to achieve the expected outcomes for our customers and our business.

Role Overview:

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Owns the Quality relationship with the customer at a senior level. This includes relationships with the largest Tier 0 airframe customers in the world, at their most senior level within the Quality organization.
- Leadership responsibility for the development, implementation, and execution of the site Quality Strategy, aligned to the Power P&L level strategic objectives.
- Responsible for ensuring that strategic priorities align to and support critical customer improvement needs. This includes ownership of customer scorecard performance outcomes.
- The role will have both direct and indirect accountability for relevant regulatory airworthiness approvals for the Vandalia site.
- Ownership includes both quality assurance and quality control. Includes quality assurance of products, services, manufacturing processes. Includes conformance in manufacturing, incoming goods control, product inspection, witness points, etc.
- Manages a small to medium team of senior quality professional, some technicians and inspectors.
- Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to arrive at a compliant decision.
- May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
- Travel up to 25%
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 9 years of experience in Manufacturing Operations)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Operations
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading people
- This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
Preferred Characteristics:
- 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing Quality, preferably within the Aerospace/Aviation industry or within a regulated industry
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute projects. Established project management skills.
- Experience and ability to communicate complex issues simply and concisely, at the most senior level amongst multiple organizations, to drive successful outcomes for both GE and Customers.
- Proven track record of presenting and influencing at the Sr. Leadership level.
- Ability to provide clear leadership in unclear situations. The role requires strong leadership through complex and ambiguous issues, with high familiarity using practical problem-solving techniques to drive successful outcomes.
- Experience working with complex, matrixed organizations and the ability to use effective problem solving and data, to influence horizontally and vertically within the organization.
- Familiarity and confidence working on high-profile, time-sensitive assignments. The role will require the ability to foster organizational composure and patience during high impact Quality investigations.
