About the job:

Kent is looking for a Senior Technical Writer.

Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Develop required documentation for Operations plants in compliance with established Company policies and procedures, oil & gas industry and international standards, and ISO 9000 & 14000 requirements.
  • Revalidates Operations Group procedures and standing instructions to ensure the continued availability of accurate, detailed, step-by-step documentation that enables the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of Company facilities.
  • Reviews and revises existing plant operations documentation and proposes criticality levels for Operations procedures.
  • Produces concise and accurate technical and safety related documents that reflect industry best practice and lessons learned.
  • Facilitates appropriate reviews and input to ensure continued development of concise and accurate technical and safety-related documentation and "As-is" and "As-built" information and instructions are reflected in relevant documentation.
  • Identifies areas of improvement to enhance the capacity of Operations to mitigate business risk and meet emerging needs. Ensures technical changes are cascaded to the relevant departments to be updated in all plant documentation and related competency assessments.
  • Supports the identification of operational areas that require technical changes or alterations to accommodate varying operating conditions and develops procedural solutions within Operations groups and across all relevant facilities.
  • Administers the document review process to ensure that all Operations documentation reviews effectively capture the changes requested by concerned stakeholders.
  • Works closely with the Graphics Officer and the Engineering Group documentation section to ensure that changes to all P&IDs are properly captured and reflected within simplified drawings

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Qualification/ Certification
  • 15+ years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry including 5 years in a role as a Lead Technical Writer developing standard operating procedures, plant operating manuals and operator training materials

Skills:
  • Extensive knowledge of Plant commissioning, initial start-up, operations and control of gas compression stations, NGL Plants, Pipeline and Export Terminals
  • Good understanding of process control and safeguarding, electrical, mechanical, rotating equipment operations
  • Experience working in Iraq would be an advantage
  • Experience in commissioning and initial start-up
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with Document Management Systems and workflows e.g. Assai

Communication:
  • Excellent written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail
