OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The Submarine Installation Marine Engineer role covers mainly the function of Installation Engineer in the office work and partially Offshore Manager/Deputy Offshore Manager in the offshore installation sites.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Installation Engineer in the office work
This activity can be called Detailed Engineering for project specific installation works.
Tasks are conducted in coordination with other colleagues of Installation Department and with other functions such as System Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Quality, purchasing with the aim of supporting the execution of the submarine systems projects awarded to Prysmian.
Duties and responsibilities are including but not limited to:
Marine Operation Superintendent in the offshore installation sites
This part of the role covers the operative execution on all marine installation sites activities for the implementation of a Project.
The activity is carried out mainly on installation vessels or more in general, on other marine installation sites, such as landing points, offshore platforms, etc.
He/She works in teams of different dimensions depending on the work importance and complexity.
Main activities falling under the responsibility of the Superintendent, are including but not limited to:

Installation Engineer in the office work
This activity can be called Detailed Engineering for project specific installation works.
Tasks are conducted in coordination with other colleagues of Installation Department and with other functions such as System Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Quality, purchasing with the aim of supporting the execution of the submarine systems projects awarded to Prysmian.
Duties and responsibilities are including but not limited to:
- Prepare installation documentation for the project execution (usually called "Installation Manual"), mainly including:
- operative procedures for the full range of cable installation activities, from the preliminary works (such as route clearance, PLGR, crossing preparation activities) to those ones actually involving the cable handling, such as cable loading, laying, protection by different burial machines
- calculations, drawings, plans, according to need, in order to support, better present, justify the technical solutions
- time schedules of installation works
- risk assessments for installation activities
- Define, select, prepare installation assets (vessels, burial machines, general installation equipment)
- Cover technical responsibility in the subcontractor selection, starting from the preparation of specification to be used as technical documents in the request for quotation.
- Technical/Quality, with regards to cable and equipment management and installation procedures,
- Health and Safety, quality and reporting
- Environment, as far as compliance with statutory and Company policy to preserve the environment and prevent pollution are concerned (not excluding suitable measures of standard practice)
- Company Asset Care, for preliminary verification of test/certification, correct use during operations and respect of predefined maintenance for all assets, from the vessels and burial/subsea machines to all installation equipment and tools
- Project constraints and specification, as far as the specific Contract clauses are concerned
- Operative Schedule, in terms of efficiency and respect of plans
- Client relationship care, with the Client Representatives present on site
- Supervision of Subcontractors during the installation phase (including once more all above aspects, Technical, Quality, HSE, Contract, etc)
- Interface with Installation Department Management and other Company Departments, mainly Project Management, Manufacturing, System Engineering, Quality, in terms of regular, suitable and correct reporting.
- Interact with project Clients, mainly on technical, planning, operative aspects, in conference telecommunications or direct meetings
- Prepare As-built documentation during project completion phase (usually called "Final Reports"), mainly gathering all reports, records, certificates, quality documents, etc issued throughout the project execution from all operative sites.

This part of the role covers the operative execution on all marine installation sites activities for the implementation of a Project.
The activity is carried out mainly on installation vessels or more in general, on other marine installation sites, such as landing points, offshore platforms, etc.
He/She works in teams of different dimensions depending on the work importance and complexity.
Main activities falling under the responsibility of the Superintendent, are including but not limited to:
- Preliminary works, such as route clearance, PLGR, pre-lay burial runs, mobilization of vessels
- Cable loading
- Cable laying
- Cable burial with a wide variety of tools/machines
- Cable pulling through HDD conduits or onto offshore platforms
- Cable repair and jointing

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
- Preferred to have a Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. In Engineering Technology or other Engineering related subjects
Minimum Experience:
- Preferably experience in a role involved in installation of submarine cable but more in general in the construction industry. This is not a mandatory requirement since the industry sector is very specific, to be noted that Prysmian has a dedicated training and development process within Marine Operations department.
