Field Trainer (OQ Trainer/Evaluator) - Gas Operations

The Field Trainer will be responsible for training and evaluating on Operator Qualifications (OQ) tasks, using various methods, in classroom and hands-on, field settings. Support operational units with qualification and training of personnel performing DOT-regulated pipeline covered tasks, in compliance with federal and applicable state pipeline safety regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Interacts with operations employees and supervisors to provide training on covered tasks, both in the classroom and hands on instruction in various field or simulated settings
- Observes and evaluates manual skills performance in an objective and consistent manner
- Performs OQ evaluations
- Prepares, organizes and submits OQ task documentation
- Collaborates with business partners and internal or external subject matter experts
- Other duties and special projects, as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years Natural Gas Distribution experience
- Ability to demonstrate a fundamental understanding of "OQ Rule," 49 CFR Part 192
- Employees in this position will demonstrate knowledge of the OQ Law.
- Must possess the required knowledge to ascertain an individual's ability to perform covered tasks and to substantiate an individual's ability to recognize and react appropriately to abnormal operating conditions that might occur while performing these activities.
- Must be organized and able to recognize opportunities for observation-based operator qualification in a verity of settings.
- Proven communication and presentation skills, oral and written, with ability to communicate with a variety of individuals and personalities at all levels internally and outside the organization
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office
- Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve complex training and employee issues/problems is required
- Have the ability to deal with frequent changes, delays and unexpected events
- Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work with a team, take direction from a supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules and adhere to work schedules.
- Bilingual (Spanish) desired, but not required
- Operator Qualifications: 3 years
- Natural Gas Distribution: 3 years
Working Conditions:
- This position requires the ability to work in an office, shop setting and on active construction sites. The work environment can vary and may include a controlled office setting, and/or exposure to outside elements.
