PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The HVAC maintains, repairs, and installs heating and air conditioning systems, ice machines, and equipment throughout the district and maintains and provides for the safe condition and operation of all HVAC systems in district facilities.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The HVAC maintains, repairs, and installs heating and air conditioning systems, ice machines, and equipment throughout the district and maintains and provides for the safe condition and operation of all HVAC systems in district facilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Valid Texas Driver's License, a good driving record, and proof of insurance on vehicle used to travel to district
- Must have a Universal CFC License, or obtain it within 6 months from hire
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of electrical theory and application
- Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
- Knowledge of water and air cool chillers' maintenance and repair
- Knowledge of water treatment and open and closed loops
- Knowledge of direct digital controls and pneumatic systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
- Ability to use hand and power tools
Experience:
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in the HVAC trade
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

- Comply with District directives and Maintenance Policies and safety procedures
- Perform all line maintenance as required for satisfactory operation of refrigeration and HVAC equipment with the district
- Perform preventive maintenance and periodic checks on all district HVAC and refrigeration equipment thru the district's work order system
- Ensure that all safety requirements are followed
- Keep all HVAC related tools and equipment in good working order
- Maintain current on refrigerant recovery and recycling requirements by the Clean Air Act
- Coordinate and inspect outside contractors' work
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of heating and air conditioning systems, including rooftop equipment exhaust fan, appliance repair and maintenance
- Install new heating and air conditioning systems and components
- Relocate and expand existing HVAC systems as needed
- Repair, replace, or calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring
- Fabricate, assemble, and install duct work and piping according to specifications and code
- Wire and connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, and humidity controls according to wiring schematics
- Maintain Freon dispensing records to meet federal requirements
- Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all HVAC equipment, including changing of filters and cleaning condensers and coils
- Perform duct cleaning and air quality testing as needed
- Assist energy manager to complete energy conservation surveys to realize most efficient, cost-effective use of HVAC energy
- Receive and complete work orders on a daily basis
- Select material and hardware and make time and material estimates
- Maintain accurate records on material and labor used
- Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean
- Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects
- Detect needed repairs on equipment following established inspection procedures
- Diagnose and repair all direct digital controls input and output devices
- Diagnose, repair and, replace variable frequency drives and provide preventive maintenance service on equipment
- Diagnose and repair motor control systems
- Diagnose and repair hydronic HVAC systems to include pumps, valves, both electronic and pneumatic
- Respond to emergency calls as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned, based on department needs
- Must complete designated district technology proficiencies each year
- Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills
- Ability to use personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resources
- Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
