Senior Research Associate, Next Generation Sequencing

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Research Associate to join our dynamic team at Orna, a leading biotech company focused on bringing our cutting-edge technologies in RNA medicines and lipid delivery to multiple fields, including gene editing. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our next-generation sequencing (NGS) efforts to advance projects in gene editing and other indications, while supporting a wide range of discovery work at the company.
Key Responsibilities
• Work in a team environment to design, coordinate, and execute NGS-based experiments to support gene editing projects and other efforts at the company
• Perform all steps of NGS sequencing protocols, from sample intake and tracking to all wet-lab steps and data delivery to collaborators.
• Design and optimize NGS experiments, including DNA/RNA extraction from cells and tissues, library preparation, and sequencing parameters.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions to improve experimental efficiency and data quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate NGS data with gene editing strategies.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments and results.
• Present findings in team meetings and contribute to scientific publications and patent applications.
• Stay current with advancements in NGS and gene editing technologies through literature review and participation in scientific conferences.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques.
• Demonstrated experience with nucleic acid molecular biology, such as DNA/RNA extraction and purification, preparation of samples for PCR/qPCR/NGS, or plasmid construction.
• Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and data analysis software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in NGS protocol design, library preparation and QC, and sequencer operation.
