Summary:
Provides leadership, direction, and project management to ensure successful completion of mining study projects according to contractual obligations. Oversees project execution according to Worley's policies and procedures. Defines project goals, develops methods to achieve them, and manages all phases of the project lifecycle. Maintains deep knowledge of customer objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies, and oversees project personnel through subordinate leaders. This role requires demonstrated leadership skills to drive project success and meet customer expectations. Focuses on delivering value to Worley MMM clients through early phase project development and enhances study management capabilities to support growth strategies.
Purpose:
To manage specialized, complex, and impactful projects, ensuring they align with client objectives and Worley's standards. This includes overseeing small and medium projects, or parts of large and mega projects, with moderate to high-risk classifications. Solutions are created by drawing on past experiences, internal and external consultations, and strategic business insights. May serve as a proposal manager for small to medium projects.

Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Define and oversee project scope, objectives, schedule, productivity, and budget, managing all aspects of project delivery. Govern complex studies, ensuring compliance with regulators and standards.
- Health & Safety: Fully embrace and promote a commitment to all health and safety matters; lead project teams in safety compliance, including Safety by Design, Constructability, and Maintainability.
- Technical Oversight: Apply comprehensive knowledge across project aspects (engineering, procurement, quality control, etc.) to ensure successful project execution and compliance with design and regulatory requirements. Review and enhance the quality of study deliverables from project teams.
- Financial Management: Track and forecast costs, manage project budgets, and maintain cost control measures. Analyze and apply financial reporting standards to meet project objectives. Strategic pursuit and proposal development.
- Execution Planning & Performance: Develop and review the Project Execution Plan, track progress, implement recovery plans as needed, and ensure regular reviews of key performance indicators.
- Customer & Stakeholder Management: Build and nurture transparent relationships with customers and stakeholders, communicating project progress and challenges effectively.
- Risk & Opportunity Management: Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks. Maintain an updated risk register and develop contingency plans to address emerging risks.
Key Competencies
- Health & Safety: Leads project safety compliance, participates in safety workshops, and ensures full adherence to safety requirements.
- Leadership: Builds and leads a multi-discipline, multi-location team, setting clear project objectives and managing performance. Proven success leading medium to large projects with moderate to high risk, especially in multicultural and multinational environments.
- Technical Expertise: Applies knowledge of project delivery processes to oversee engineering, procurement, and on-site construction support, ensuring alignment with customer requirements. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex technical and operational challenges. Exceptional analytical and presentation abilities, adept at communicating complex plans to Senior Management.
- Financial Acumen: Manages project finances, including cost tracking, forecasting, and managing accounts receivable, to optimize project financial performance.
- Execution Planning & Performance: Oversees the development and implementation of Project Execution Plans, incorporating Value Creation and Sustainable Solutions.
- Communication & Networking: Leads project proposals, facilitates clear communication protocols, and resolves conflicts within the project team and with customers.
- Customer & Stakeholder Management: Understands customer KPIs, manages expectations, and builds a trust-based relationship with stakeholders.
- Risk & Opportunity Management: Identifies risks, maintains a current risk register, and implements mitigation and contingency plans.
What You Will Bring
Required Skills:
- University degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 15+ years of relevant experience, including at least 12+ years in project management, supervisory roles, or technical expertise.
- Mining projects background, preferably including experience in base metals, precious metals, and energy transition metals.
- Proven front end consulting skills with experience in Front End Studies & Advisory, Concept/Select, Consulting, PFS, FS and NI 43-101 and SK-1300 reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Workshare and EP Projects.
Preferred Skills:
- Advanced degree or certification in project management or engineering.
- Professional registration in the local jurisdiction.
- Certification as a Program Management Professional (IPMA, APM, PMI, or AIPM).
- Fluency in Spanish.
- Mining regulatory/MSHA certification and experience.
