Position Description

We invite you to join the Customer Energy Solutions' Design Management team of program managers and craft Seattle's efficient and resilient energy future!

As a Senior Program Manager, you will lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement customer centric energy programs that enable an affordable, clean-energy future for our customers. Work assignments span strategic clean-energy initiatives such as efficiency, demand response, distributed energy resources, and more. You will report to the Energy Management Analyst Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities

Here is more about what you'll be doing:
Design Innovative Programs. Apply design-thinking and customer and contractor engagement tactics through an iterative program life cycle to craft, build, implement and be responsible for the operation of innovative clean-energy programs, ensuring that tools and documentation support efficient and effective program operation and delivery.
Deliver on Business Objectives. Apply a standard program management framework to align partners and direct cross-functional teams to complete milestones and deliver on program objectives such as crafting a workplan, navigating sophisticated decision-making, handle budget and risk needs, and communicate success.
Manage Stakeholders. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with program stakeholders. Work with peers and leadership to identify resources and overcome barriers. Collaborate across divisions to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in our offerings. Represent City Light at public and professional events, maintaining relationships with industry associates and peer utilities.
Manage Contracts and Consultants: Build and lead consulting contracts to support effective program management. Identify scope of work and navigate purchasing and contracting processes to select, onboard, and coordinate ongoing delivery and invoicing of consulting resources.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications: In addition to the skills and experience mentioned below, a successful applicant will have experience that reflects a commitment to creating fair and equitable outcomes and has:
Baccalaureate degree in energy management, engineering, architecture or a related subject area and three years experience in professional commercial or industrial energy management analysis (other combinations of education, training and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability).

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Most work is performed in a normal City work or office environment, entails visiting commercial and industrial customers, and touring their facilities to identify energy conservation opportunities and conduct inspections.

License, Certification and Other Requirements:
Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.

Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:
  • Three or more years' experience in designing and leading energy programs.
  • Demonstrated experience involving complex portfolios and adherence to adopted protocol. Experience leading business strategy, risk, and professional services contracts.
  • Experience with stakeholder management, customer engagement, and building strategic partnerships.
  • Strong industry knowledge of demand-side management, distributed energy resources, customer utility programs, rate structures, regulatory considerations, renewable energy, wholesale power markets, grid services, and the layering effect of these components on power operations.
  • Industry certifications such as BPI, CEM, CMVP, LEED, PgMP, or PMP.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience integrating multiculturalism, diversity, and equity into program design and building those skills amongst direct reports.
  • Ability to self-start, apply good judgment, and work collaboratively with very limited supervision.

The full salary range for this position is $57.63 to $67.14 per hour.
