Description of Work Unit
Provide quality services to maintain the campus buildings mechanical, HVAC & R, and controls systems for the benefit of the university community, by providing a safe comfortable environment conducive to the educational and research requirements of Colorado State University.
Trade Maintenance Services exist to support Facilities Management, Administration Services Division, and Colorado State University strategic plans. To provide, within the limit of its allocated resources, quality trades maintenance services, which includes all structural, mechanical, and electrical systems, and small construction project management. These services are to create and maintain an aesthetically pleasing and functional environment that meets or exceeds the University's needs for instruction, research, and outreach.
Major building components affected are heating, ventilation, cooling, refrigeration, fire alarm, keyless access, security, closed circuit television security systems and the affiliated sub networks. The buildings included are used for instruction and research and contain technologically advanced and bio-safety level /II containment and drug manufacturing facilities all of which are utilized in research on the campus.
Position is required to maintain, throughout the course of employment, all building access granted through security and other clearances to appropriately serve and maintain buildings that fall under the responsibility of Facilities Management to monitor and maintain.
Position Summary
This position exists to provide quality Preventive services to maintain the campus buildings mechanical, HVAC & R, and controls systems for the benefit of the university community, by providing a safe comfortable environment conducive to the educational and research requirements of Colorado State University.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years (3) of commercial HVACR experience including:
performing preventative maintenance, and repairs on buildings with rotating mechanical systems (ie: fans, sheaves, belts, bearings, motors, pumps and filters)

Provides preventive maintenance and operates, diagnoses, troubleshoots repairs reciprocating type air conditioning and refrigeration systems and components. Performs preventative maintenance, diagnoses and repair on pumps, cooling towers, refrigerant and water piping, walk-in refrigeration coolers and freezers, compressors, refrigerators, staters, coifs, environmental chambers, ice machines, window A/C's water coolers, and other various cooling equipment.
Proper use of refrigerant (CFC) recovery, reclaim, recycle refrigerant gases. Proper disposal techniques of contaminated CFC's and hazardous materials (oil and gas) as outlined by federal, state, and local governments.
