Job Title: HVAC Technician

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: This position performs HVAC work involving responsibility for skilled tasks within the trade in the construction, alteration, maintenance, and electrical repair of HVAC systems including but not limited to boilers (both steam and hot water), chillers, and roof top units (of the common time), electrical equipment and fixtures.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS: Two years' experience as an HVAC Technician and four years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the electrical or refrigeration trade. Associate degree in HVAC/R or equivalent.
COMPENSATION RANGE: $34.80 - $36.43/hour

WORKING CONDITIONS: Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.

- Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
- Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
- Calibrates, adjusts, and repairs temperature control components for heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems for their proper, consistent, and reliable operation.
- Troubleshoots temperature control systems to identify system problems and make the necessary component repairs/replacements to restore normal control cycle operations.
- Upgrade present temperature control to improve their control cycles for a better, and more efficient, operation.
- Modifies and repairs existing HVAC systems.
- Must be EPA Refrigerant Certified or must become certified within 6 months from employment start date.
- Maintains electrical, pneumatic, and digital temperature control systems, performs technical preventative maintenance on such systems.
- Works cooperatively with other HVAC technicians, under the direction of the foreman.
- Is available for emergencies which will arise.
