This position reports to

Regional General Counsel, APAC - Process Automation.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide comprehensive legal advice and support to ABB's operations, through your expertise in corporate law, compliance, contract negotiation, and risk management. Each day, you will be responsible for mitigating legal risks, ensuring corporate governance, and driving business growth while maintaining compliance with local laws and regulations. You will also showcase your expertise by providing L&I advice to ABB management and acting as an advisor to the business stakeholders. The work model for the role is hybrid #LI-hybrid. This role is contributing to the Process Automation Business across Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia, in addition to country legal responsibility in Singapore. Main stakeholders are Singapore country management team and Process Automation business teams in Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia. This role will report to Regional General Counsel, APAC - Process Automation. You will be mainly accountable for: • As part of the country management team carrying end-to-end accountability for Legal & Integrity and country fiduciary duties and ABB's legal and regulatory obligations in Singapore. • Partnering with Process Automation business teams in Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam by (i) providing sound, pragmatic, business-oriented advice and risk assessment for a broad range of legal and compliance matters including group's policies and procedures; (ii) provide firm and sound analysis, interpretation, guidance and advice on applicable laws as well as group's integrity related policies and procedures specifically related to integrity/code of conduct. • Monitoring legal affairs, including but not limited to litigations and activity reports and acting as a key advisor on local strategic fiduciary matters. • Supporting implementation of the Code of Conduct and on-going integrity trainings, conducting in investigation and finding resolution of any integrity issues that arise. • Playing a key role in ensuring good corporate governance in your area of accountability across Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia (structuring, drafting, negotiation, etc.) regarding Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) / divestiture transactions. • Managing and liaising with external service providers, including external legal counsel, ensuring that all external advice is provided in a cost-effectie way. • Supporting in anticipating future business and legal opportunities and challenges and developing appropriate strategies to address them. Assessing integrity risks associated with business opportunities and transactions and support in implementing risk mitigation strategies in accordance with the third party management procedure. Qualifications for the role

  • Law degree and admission to practice law in a common law jurisdiction
  • A practicing lawyer with at least 10 years of working experience in a multi-national company, preferably in EPC, Oil & Gas, Energy industries with experience in claim management on major projects and dealing with wide range of stakeholders.
  • Comfortable to work as a sole contributor
  • Self-motivated and able to work with autonomy, attention to details with excellent time management
  • Proactive & positive attitude with collaborative team spirit, team player with strong communication skills, good interpersonal skills and able to work effectively with business stakeholders.
  • Multiple jurisdiction experience within South East Asia particularly Indonesia and Vietnam
  • Fluency in English and another Asian language is a plus
  • You hold current valid working rights or permanent residency / citizenship in Singapore.
