Job Purpose

To make sure National Grid's State and Federal mandated corrosion control programs are completed within regulated timeframes and budget. Promote and follow testing and safety procedures set forth by National Grid, New York State, and the US DOT.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain daily operations of Corrosion Field Testers and Contractors.
  • Make sure all corrosion mandates are completed on time (includes regular interval testing and diagnostics).
  • Teach corrosion control testing procedures to all Testers.
  • Maintain safety programs and regularly observe safe work practices by conducting regular field audits.
  • Responsible for monitoring and providing testing for DOT required Pipeline Operator Qualification's program.
  • Maintain constant watch on the cost of operations and promote efficient ways of doing business.
  • Customer contact for entry into customer premises.
  • Supervise and direct the actions of Corrosion Field Technicians including supplemental contracted workforce.
  • Maintain safety as highest priority by promoting our safety goals and procedures, which includes regular safety and observation audits completed in the field.
  • Understand and promote cost savings measures to ensure cost center stays within specified budget.
  • Be proficient and teach direct reports and others on corrosion electronic database system (Pipeline Compliance System) as well as other National Grid software systems such as Gas GIS and CIS. Typical windows knowledge needed for software such as Microsoft 365 suite Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

Knowledge of Federal DOT and National Grid corrosion control testing procedures, as well as demonstrated proficiency with National Grid computer systems.

Qualifications

  • BS degree or equivalent (Engineering Degree preferred but not required).
  • 3+ Years of related experience is preferred.

Salary - $97,000 - $114,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
