Position Overview
We are seeking a Principal Nuclear Security Trainer to lead and administer training programs that ensure compliance with NRC requirements and maintain high standards of safety and readiness for PGE's Trojan ISFSI. This individual will play a critical role in designing, delivering, and evaluating training courses for Security Shift Supervisors and all security personnel, focusing on critical tasks, regulatory compliance, and contingency planning. This role combines expertise in nuclear operations, security, and training development with advanced project management skills to enhance the safety and efficiency of our operations.

Compensation Range:
$104,325.00 - $173,875.00
Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.

Position Overview
We are seeking a Principal Nuclear Security Trainer to lead and administer training programs that ensure compliance with NRC requirements and maintain high standards of safety and readiness for PGE's Trojan ISFSI. This individual will play a critical role in designing, delivering, and evaluating training courses for Security Shift Supervisors and all security personnel, focusing on critical tasks, regulatory compliance, and contingency planning. This role combines expertise in nuclear operations, security, and training development with advanced project management skills to enhance the safety and efficiency of our operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Training Program Development and Administration
- Develop, implement, and assess training programs in classroom, range, and on-the-job settings using a systematic approach that aligns with NRC and organizational requirements.
- Lead orientation, training, and retraining sessions for Security Shift Supervisors and security personnel, including certifications and re-certifications on essential skills and contingency response.
- Track and maintain training records to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and conduct periodic evaluations to assess program effectiveness.
2. Course Design and Delivery
- Design and deliver training courses, including tools and materials, based on sound instructional design principles. Coordinate and schedule training using in-house, vendor, or online resources.
- Train and qualify new Security Officers, oversee firearms and response training, and conduct range activities and On-the-Job Training/Job Performance Measures (OJT/JPM).
- Digitize lesson plans and exams and act as the PGE corporate training liaison for compliance-related training needs.
3. Job Analysis and Skills Assessment
- Lead job analysis sessions with subject matter experts to identify key knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) for roles within the generation organization.
- Assess performance capabilities, identify skill gaps, and develop KSA frameworks for future operations.
4. Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
- Monitor skill progression, recommend program improvements, and devise strategies for closing performance gaps. Ensure the training program evolves with regulatory changes and organizational needs.
5. Security Coordination and Compliance
- Observe and coordinate security shift activities to ensure adherence to protocols, security plans, and NRC requirements.
- Manage medical exams and records for the department, perform drill critiques, and act as the controller during security exercises.
- Fulfill additional security requirements as needed to support operations.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience; nuclear operations, security, or ISFSI experience preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in a relevant field, with demonstrated experience in training, instructional design, and security operations.
- PMP certification is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of power plant operations, maintenance, and NRC regulations, along with an understanding of interrelated power systems and security protocols.
- Advanced skills in technical training program development, including curriculum design, facilitation, and evaluation.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) with excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities.
Physical and Cognitive Demands
- High cognitive ability with strong analytical skills, problem-solving under stress, and adaptability to changing requirements.
- Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical capacity for frequent travel and driving, with the ability to work variable hours and perform tasks in indoor/outdoor environments, including confined spaces, elevated areas, and rough terrains.
