THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Utilities Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing Venterra's resident utility billing process as well as optimizing utility expenses and reimbursements throughout the portfolio. The Utilities Manager will collaborate and work closely with internal and external stakeholders in order to identify areas of improvement and ensure success of ancillary utility programs.

THE DETAILS
  • Direct oversight of Venterra's Resident Utility Billing (RUBS) program.
  • Track legislative changes and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Address utility related questions or issues raised by individual communities or internal stakeholders.
  • Develop, implement, and manage projects and programs in order to optimize utility consumption.
  • Oversee utility revenue contracts and ensure timely collection of utility commissions.
  • Develop and manage budgets and forecasts for utility revenue and expenses, monitor and report on performance vs budget.
  • Prepare internal and external reporting as needed to communicate performance to various stakeholders within the organization.
  • Identify and investigate anomalies and abnormal trends related to utility expense and recovery.
  • Collaborate closely with various internal stakeholders to work towards the organization's sustainability goals.

THE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent related job experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in budgeting, financial analysis, vendor/program or vendor/program management. Experience working with public utilities is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing strategies to achieve cost savings and consumption optimization.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) is required.
  • Occasional travel to industry events may be required.
