Summary
The Manager-Operation Smelter is responsible for overseeing the entire smelting process, ensuring efficient and safe operations, maintaining high productivity, and achieving production targets. This role involves managing a team of professionals, implementing best practices, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities:

Operational Management:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the smelter to ensure production goals are met. 
  • Implement and monitor operational procedures and policies. 
  • Optimize production processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and operation of all smelting equipment.
Team Leadership:
  • Lead, train, and develop a team of supervisors, engineers, and operators.
  • Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and emergency response plans.
Quality Control:
  • Maintain high standards of product quality.
  • Implement quality control measures and monitor output.
  • Address any quality issues promptly ad effectively.
Budget and Resource Management:
  • Develop and manage the operational budget.
  • Monitor expenses and optimize resource allocation.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
Reporting and Documentation:
  • Prepare and present regular reports on production, safety, and financial performance.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all operations and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all incidents and corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in smelting operations, with at least 5 years in a mangerial role.
  • Skills: 
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • In-depth knowledge of smelting processes and equipment.
    • Proficiency in using operational and safety management software.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certifications: Relevant industry certifications (e.g. Six Sigma, PMP) are a plus. 
Working Conditions:
  • Work is primarily performed in a smelter environment.
  • Exposure to high temperatures, loud noises, and hazardous materials.
  • Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Involve on-call duties.
