ProductionWe are currently recruiting a Training & Competency Assessor for a Global Oil & Gas offshore company in a permanent role.
This role will be a residential role in Singapore until end of March 2025, before transitioning to Darwin, NT, Australia.
The successful candidate will be working within the Competence Management System, facilitating competence assessments of offshore personnel, in accordance with company standards. Responsible for quality and objective assessment of individuals’ skills and knowledge, advising on evidence collection and actively contributing to the company’s internal quality assurance process. Pre-operations activities are principally based in Singapore for first part, however will also require travelling to other project executions sites as required.
As part of the companies commitment to support local areas of operation in the operation phase, we are preferably seeking candidates who are resident in the Northern Territories or candidates who are willing to relocate with assistance from the company.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities may include but are not limited to:
- Involvement in the quality assurance of training providers and program delivery to ensure ongoing suitability in accordance with the training matrix
- Ensure alignment between training and competence outcomes and define requirements for minimum role competence requirements.
- Uphold achievement of the vessel competence matrix.
- Induction of offshore personnel into the competence assurance process ensuring they are ready for and prepared to be assessed.
- Facilitate assessment of personnel using good practice in accordance with company competence standards and procedures.
- Ensure quality and auditable assessment evidence to support individuals’ claims for competence.
- Maintain up to date and timely progress reporting of competence achievement levels.
- Contribute to internal standardization of the competence assurance process.
- Manage outcomes of assessment and decisions including decisions of Not Yet Competent liaising with internal Stakeholders to agree development plans are achieved.
- Monitor the achievement of development plans.
- Actively support the periodic review of the Training, and the Competence to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Involvement in periodic review of the Competence Assurance process and documentation in accordance with procedure.
- Ensure ongoing competence levels are maintained through reassessment, in accordance with company procedure.
- Support with internal/external audits.
- Applicable degree in English or Technical Communications, or equivalent education and experience combined.
- Technical trade qualification to degree level or vocational equivalent
- Recognized Workplace Assessor Qualification
- Ideally 5 years of experience within the offshore / maritime industry
- Experience of at least 5 years practicing in the role of Competence Assessor.
- Team player with the ability to lead
- Proactive and able to work independently, applying a structured and systematic approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to ask relevant questions and provide thorough explanations
- Good 2 way interpersonal and communications skills
