Wood is currently recruiting for a Quality Inspector (contract) to work as part of an IPMT team on our clients exciting energy transition project. The role will be based at the manufacturing site in Linz, Austria for around 6 months.
RESPONSIBILITIES
General Inspection duties description
Inspector shall in general be responsible for monitoring performance of both contractor and sub-contractor and Quality Control matters. Main tasks include:
Specific Plate Mill duties
Mill surveillance ensuring activities are carried out in line with technical specification - ITP / MPS and other project specific procedures where applicable.

RESPONSIBILITIES
General Inspection duties description
Inspector shall in general be responsible for monitoring performance of both contractor and sub-contractor and Quality Control matters. Main tasks include:
- Witnessing Supplier / Contractor activities ensuring the proper implementation of the approved Inspection & test plans and relevant QC Procedures
- Highlighting any non-conforming material or activity for Supplier / Contractor to issue the relevant report and corrective action
- Reviewing Inspection Test Records upon completion of test and inspections ensuring their timely issuing by Supplier / Contractor to prevent backlogs
Specific Plate Mill duties
Mill surveillance ensuring activities are carried out in line with technical specification - ITP / MPS and other project specific procedures where applicable.
- Witness reheating of casting
- Witness slab reheating, drop out, final rolling, final cooling, monitor cooling rate.
- Witness Plate Marking
- Check NDT technician certificates, Witness AUT verifications and follow up MUT and check results in
QUALIFICATIONS
General
- TMCP Plate manufacturing experience essential
- Good communication and leadership skills
- Previous experience at vendor advantageous
- Good computer knowledge against standard MS Office software package
- Read, understand and Comply with all Project HSES standards & documentation
- Fully committed to Project ethical values and to achieve Project expectations and goals, which shall include a proactive approach with other project department to achieve these goals
Qualification and knowledge
- Level 2 NDT qualifications as per ISO 9712 or ASNT Central Certification Program (ACCP) in UT/ MT
- Experience of calibration and results interpretation from automated equipment for NDT
- Experience in destructive testing including DWTT's
- Fully conversant with DNV-ST-F101 requirements and relevant general international standards (e.g. ISO, ASME, ASTM, EN etc.)
- Experience witnessing Plate Mill activities; including casting, rolling, marking etc.
