About Houston
ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.
By bringing many global functional groups together, the campus provides employees with the tools and capabilities needed today, and in the future, to achieve business objectives and accelerate the discovery of new resources, technologies and products. What role you will play in our team
Experienced geoscientists at ExxonMobil are able to work across all stages of the business and apply the appropriate scale of investigation for each of these business stages. Experienced geoscientists integrate and interpret geological and geophysical data to support business decisions. Typical datasets for integration include seismic, logs, fluids, core, static and dynamic data, and leverage advanced mapping, interpretation, modeling, and other techniques.
They deliver accurate subsurface descriptions and communicate key risks and uncertainties. They have high business acuity and are able to express geoscience uncertainty in terms of business value. They collaborate across teams and across disciplines, especially with engineering colleagues on reservoir characterization, well planning, and drilling execution.

- Develop plans to drive a project to completion, identify resources needed and deliverables to support the business.
- Integrate diverse datasets across multiple scales to characterize the subsurface opportunities in exploration, development, and production stages
- Business acumen - characterize subsurface opportunities and inform business decisions for exploration, development, and production opportunities
- Work effectively within and across diverse multi-discipline teams to support region business strategies, and with external partners
- Coordinate data collection and information analysis to holistically integrate, interpret, and communicate geological, geophysical, and geochemical information
About you
Skills and Qualifications
- 20+ years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry working across the Exploration, Development and Production stages of the business.
- Worked in multiple deepwater basins for both Exploration, Development and Production. Guyana experience preferred.
- Subject Matter Expertise in stratigraphy
- Ability to comprehend, integrate knowledge, ideas and skills to characterize subsurface opportunity
- Generate and high-grade leads within a regional framework with limited data
- Have experience planning and executing wells
- Ability to integrate diverse datasets across multiple scales (seismic, log, core) to build subsurface models
- Candidates should have a MA/MS and/or PhD in Geology (or related fields). Candidates should have a strong, fundamental background in the earth sciences, physical sciences, and mathematics (including statistics)
- One must demonstrate leadership, adaptability, teamwork, excellent communication skills in English, and a commitment to high safety and ethical standards. In addition, candidates should be able to work effectively within and across diverse team environments
Preferred knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Multiple of the following skill set are desirable:
- Seismic interpreter who can work across multiple scales and integrate all suites of subsurface data (core, well log, seismic). Understand wells, well integration and well planning as tied to seismic.
- Integrated Geophysicists who understand seismic data improvements, limitations, etc. and support geoscientist generating opportunities
- Quantitative interpretation (QI) able to model and predict rock properties, seismic attributes for each business stage
- Integrate static and dynamic data to understand subsurface connectivity at multiple scales
- Subject Matter Expert in Stratigraphy - can integrate seismic character with geology, generating a model for the subsurface.
