Job Description Summary
This posting is to collect applications for current and future openings for our plant. Candidates will be screened as opportunities come available and selected candidates will be contacted about an opportunity.

Manufacturing Operators setup and operate a variety of production equipment in a commercial nuclear fuel fabrication operation. You will have ownership of compliance, safety, quality, and production in performance of position responsibilities, and be committed to excellence in all aspects of work. You will participate in team meetings and work activities using structured team processes for problem solving and continuous improvement of operations.

Duties may include work in controlled access areas. Those positions require satisfactory completion of related Special Nuclear Material training.

The starting hourly rates range from $25.86 - $26.39, progressing to $26.39 - $27.61 in 6 months, with satisfactory performance. Position rate depends on work assignment. Night shift bonus of $1/hour paid when employee works evening or night shifts. For roles working in Airborne Controlled Areas, there will be an additional $2/hour premium.

These positions have an 18-month retention before an employee is eligible to bid into another role without prior business approval.

Positions available will be for either 2nd shift operations (3PM - 11PM) or 3rd shift operations (11PM - 7AM). Candidates willing to work either shift are preferred.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Setup and operate a variety of production equipment in a nuclear fuel fabrication operation.
  • Job responsibilities may include: operate complex press, grind, mill, slug, roll tumble, lathe, saw, blending and granulating machinery.
  • Move various products and product containers to a variety of process stations and/or storage locations.
  • Operate motorized fork trucks, side-loaders, hand trucks, and overhead cranes.
  • Perform basic setups, changeovers, and perform minor adjustments to maintain machine tolerances.
  • Check and monitor quality and output using precision measuring equipment, such as: micrometers, indicators, optical comparator, profilometer, and pin gages.
  • Continuously adhere to all areas of personal, nuclear, and criticality safety regulations and requirements.
  • Accountable for complete accuracy in data input to material inventory control system.
  • Maintain records, process control charts, and other documentation as required.
  • Interpret operating procedures, temporary operating procedures, and production notices, and assure that quality and process instructions are followed.
  • Perform duties and tasks related to all safety regulations and procedures and that are necessary to keep facilities, materials, and work area clean and orderly.
  • Frequently lift heavy trays up to 50 lbs. from ground to head level. Must be able to push/pull up material handling carts with a required force up to 50 lbs.*
  • Stand for extended periods. Some climbing, bending, squatting, and stooping required.*
  • Achieve qualification/certification on level elements as specified in operating and quality documents.
  • Read and comprehend operating, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must pass a pre-hire assessment as part of the selection process, which includes math, reading, following detailed instructions, and other basic competencies.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a maintenance, manufacturing/production operation, nuclear facility, OR equivalent military experience; OR Associate Degree in technical field (e.g., Computer Integrating Machining, Electrical/Electronics Technology, Mechatronics, etc.); OR minimum of 3 months as a certified FMO Ceramics operator or FCO operator in the last 2 years.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • For nuclear controlled access area assignments, must pass nuclear safety, industrial, and environmental training test, respiratory protection requirements, and QC measurement test.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, including weekend shifts as needed.
  • Corrected 20/20 vision and color distinction required to complete the Quality Control (QC) vision test.
  • Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment, for example: safety glasses, gloves, hats, safety shoes, protective clothing, and a half and/or full-face respirator mask.*
