AtkinsRéalis is looking for a dedicated Civil Engineering Graduate to join our team within the Municipal Infrastructure Group. You will have the opportunity to work on various design projects as a designer and on construction projects as an inspector. This position will be based in Toronto, Ontario. You will be working in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. In additional to civil, you will have exposure to structural, traffic, environmental, geotechnical, foundations, pavement, rail and electrical disciplines.

Location: Toronto, ON.

Your role within the team:
  • Assist in the preparation of preliminary and detailed municipal roadway design as directed by the Project Manager or Design Lead.
  • Prepare and update design drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Assist in preparation of contract packages including design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Monitor, observe, and evaluate construction work to ensure it conforms with the Contract Documents and quality requirements.
  • Ensure that the contractor is taking the necessary steps to meet quality standards.
  • Ensure that all construction activities adhere to safety regulations and standards
  • Prepare daily reports and provide updates to the Contract Administrator
  • Coordinate with external agencies, other disciplines, design leads and construction personnel.

The ideal candidate:
  • Civil Engineering graduate with 1-2 years of Civil Engineering experience as a designer and/or construction inspector on municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with Ontario and/or TAC geometric design standards for roads and underground utility design.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads, MS Project.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills, work on multiple projects to meet established deadlines, and ability to work under pressure, and demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Good understanding of construction best practices, regulations, and standards.
  • Comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders including contractors and other site personnel.
  • Valid Class G Driver's License is required.
