Role Overview:

The First Article Inspector will work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure that all first article inspections are conducted in compliance with customer and industry standards. This role demands a high level of ethical standards, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and adherence to safety procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Work with Quality Engineers to prepare First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
  • Check dimensional characteristics using hand tools and measuring devices (e.g., optical comparators, ohm meters, CMMs, dial calipers, rulers, tape measures, protractors, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
  • Ensure the First Article Inspection Reports have been approved by the customer and communicate with Production and Quality representatives throughout the process.
  • Process customer returns and work with Quality Engineers through return investigations.
  • Verify compliance with the customer requirements.
  • Verify supplier documentation.
  • Demonstrate the highest level of moral, ethical, and legal standards.
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safety equipment, and follow safety procedures.
  • Exemplify and coach others on GE Aerospace's Leadership behaviors.


Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university (or high school diploma / GED with at least 2 years of experience in manufacturing quality inspection)


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing quality inspection
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Oracle, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally and tactfully
  • Basic knowledge of Quality System requirements (AS9100)
  • Ability to qualify as a Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representatives (DMIR)
  • Prior knowledge of electrical test methodology (ohm meter, gauss meter, surge test, hi-pot, etc.)
  • Knowledge of electrical components and test methods
  • Assembly, solder, or electronics manufacturing experience
  • Experience in a self-directed team environment
  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, and eager to learn
  • Transparent: share critical information, speak with candor, and contribute constructively
  • Focused: ability to learn quickly, strategically prioritize work, and show commitment
  • Leadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, and collaborative

  • Familiarity with 5S & Lean manufacturing


The base pay range for this position is $50,000 - $57,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This posting is expected to close on March 7, 2025.
