Wood is recruiting for a Mechanical Piping QA/QC Engineer to join its Iraq Business Unit to develop and implement QA/QC plans specific to piping, tank, and vessel works/projects.

This role is onsite in Basra, Iraq with Travel Requirement.

Rotation: 5 days on 2 days off

Key Objectives
  • Develop and implement QA/QC plans specific to piping, tank, and vessel works/projects.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of piping, tank, and vessel installations to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
  • Review and approve welding procedures, inspection plans, and other technical documents.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and non-conformances.
  • Work closely with design operations team, engineers' team, maintenance teams, and subcontractors to address quality issues and implement solutions.
  • Reporting to piping section head for all program and activity.
  • Participate in work/project meetings to discuss quality performance and areas for improvement.
  • Perform or oversee Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of piping, tank, and vessel systems. Ensure all tests are conducted per applicable codes and regulations.
  • Ensure proper documentation of inspection results and test data.
  • Stay updated on relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Ensure that all work complies with health, safety, and environmental standards at client site.
  • Support the application of client Policy in relation to the Drug and Alcohol policy, Company Ethics, Award conditions, etc, whilst respecting and protecting the personal rights of subordinates.


QUALIFICATIONS

Expected:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Material Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience specifically in QA/QC within the piping sector, preferably in oil & gas and petrochemical sector.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or CSWIP Welding Inspector or NDT Level II.
  • Knowledge on the International Standard related to Piping, such as API 570, API 653, ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, API 5L, API Spec. 15 HR, NACE, and GRE/GRP & Carbon Fiber Wrap System.


Skills:
  • Language English and Arabic Proficiency.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Good awareness in Safety Operations, Risk Assessment, and Best Practice Engineering.
  • Problem Solving
  • Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions; prepare clear and concise records, reports and other written materials.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Ability to interact in a multi-cultural environment
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with third party contractors, business partners and local communities

  • Familiar with Tools/Software corelated with Piping-Static Equipment Design.
