Wood is recruiting for a Mechanical and HVAC Section Head expert to join its Iraq Business Unit to to ensure that all mechanical and HVAC works are carried out in accordance with specifications to a high quality standard at minimum cost and within scheduled repair time.

This role is onsite in Basra, Iraq with Travel Requirement.

Key Objectives
  • Responsible and accountable to ensure that all mechanical and HVAC works are carried out in accordance with specifications to a high quality standard at minimum cost and within scheduled repair time
  • Responsible and accountable to ensure an acceptable standard of Quality, Environmental, Health, Safety and Security Management System are maintained in accordance with recognized working practices and the Company's QEHS&S Manual and Policy
  • Co-Manager Mechanical and HVAC team with a Client counterpart
  • Responsible and accountable to assist all maintenance activities performed at Client field by ensuring maintenance activities are integrated in accordance with the Production Unit Asset Leadership team's plans
  • Responsible and accountable for organization communicating CLIENT expectations on job safety, health, environmental and security to Maintenance team.
  • Reporting to Maintenance manager for all program and acitvity
  • Maintain communications with Operations Superintendents other senior Production Operations personnel to maintain equipment reliability
  • Assist Operations in the planning and execution of plant turnarounds and facility upgrades.
  • Plans, updates, and oversees all activities within his or her areas of responsibility according to the laws, regulations, standards, specifications, and procedures. Special emphasis must be placed on health, safety, and the environment.
  • Participate in site Emergency Response activities.
  • Initiate and participate in Site Emergency Drills to raise awareness of Emergency Response procedures, and conduct team debriefs on conclusion of the drills
  • Support the application of CLIENT Policy in relation to the Drug and Alcohol policy, Company Ethics, Award conditions, etc, whilst respecting and protecting the personal rights of subordinates
  • Report incidents both internally and externally (as per the Reporting Matrix) and escalate awareness as per the Incident Reporting Guidelines
  • Stewardship of work plans, schedule and daily activities to maximize work teams effectiveness
  • Develop, maintain, & execute maintenance service agreements
  • Provide technical evaluations of material, equipment and maintenance procedures
  • Review and advise the training department on curriculum and selection of personnel for training
  • Establish maintenance execution staffing resource requirements, contractor requirements, for input to Asset Level business plan
  • Responsible and accountable for organization communicating CLIENT expectations on job safety, health, environmental and security to Maintenance team
  • Maintain communications with Operations Department, surface technical and other related document to maintain equipment reliability
  • Assist Operations in the planning and execution of plant turnarounds and facility upgrades
  • Plans, updates, and oversees all activities within his or her areas of responsibility according to the laws, regulations, standards, specifications, and procedures. Special emphasis must be placed on health, safety, and the environment
  • Develops and maintains open communications on control issues (for example, safe work practices, training, materials, and others) with peers and instrument technicians
  • Look for opportunities to optimize operations and implement them accordingly
  • Verify system operation and performance after implementing the recommendation
  • Review project proposal and detail design for new and/or existing facilities

Expected:
  • Has capability working for process control advances, fire & gas system, and ESD shutdown.
  • 15 years plus experience in Maintenance Operations - required
  • 10-15 years' Experienced in welding processes, procedures, and materials (MTRs / MTCs)
  • 5 years previous key leadership position within an operating oil or gas field - required
  • Postsecondary education or trade certificate - required

Skills:
  • Excellent communications (oral & written)
  • Highest standard of Safety, Health, Environment aptitude and cultivates the same in others
  • Ability to interact in a multi-cultural environment
  • Previously worked in a key leadership position
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with third party contractors, business partners and local communities
  • Advanced understanding of Controls Integrity Management System (CIMS), safety management tools, Production Operations Best Practices (POBP),WP&B, Operated by Others (OBO) processes
  • Advanced understanding and operation of Emergency Preparedness Procedures
  • Good management /supervisory, interpersonal and motivation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of safety management tools and processes (Stepback 5x5, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessment)
  • Understanding of Client Project Philosophy and Design Specifications
  • Understanding of Client Project regulations
  • Understanding mechanical equipment (pump, air compressor, compressor, turbine, heater, etc)
  • Understanding HVAC Systems, multiple brands & sizes
  • Understanding Fire & Safety Logic as it pertains to HVAC Systems
  • Understanding HVAC Tonnage and Environmental Factors
  • Understanding Maximo
