The ideal Facility Manager candidate will be pragmatic, adaptable, and hands-on, with demonstrated experience working in Africa and within mid-sized organizations. You will be responsible for managing facilities, infrastructure, local teams, contractors, and ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance in a remote, logistically complex environment.
The facilities are located within a strategic oil and gas hub in the Niger Delta, encompassing both onshore and swamp operations. The environment is logistically complex, with a combination of legacy infrastructure and modern systems that require careful coordination. The site operates continuously and includes processing facilities, utilities, accommodation, and marine logistics. It plays a central role in supporting upstream production and midstream transportation, requiring a facility manager who can navigate technical challenges, environmental sensitivity, and local community dynamics with professionalism and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day O&M operations of the facility, including power generation, water systems, accommodation, catering, and security coordination.
- Implement and supervise maintenance programs for all equipment and infrastructure.
- Ensure HSE standards are upheld and promote a safety-first culture.
- Manage on-site teams and local contractors with a focus on performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues pragmatically and in real-time.
- Monitor logistics and supply chain to ensure availability of essential materials and services.
- Report to management on site performance, issues, and needs.
- Act as the point of contact between local staff and expatriate leadership.
Required Profile
- Proven experience in Facilities Management in remote or challenging environments.
- Strong background in Operations & Maintenance (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, utilities).
- Experience working in Africa, ideally in Nigeria or similar settings.
- Comfortable working in a mid-sized company environment: hands-on, flexible, and proactive.
- Excellent communication and team management skills.
- Fluent in English.
