Parker Meggitt occupies a leading position in the design and manufacture of aircraft engine shell-and-tube and plate-and-fin heat exchangers. We are a significant supplier to both civil and military aviation, with products used on the majority of the latest aero-engines, including LEAP, PurePower and F135.
In this role you will be responsible for supporting production operations with a firm understanding of aerospace quality requirements and design principles. Your focus will be on sustaining engineering and improvements in engineering. Developing and recommending solutions to well-defined engineering requirements; ensuring that design objectives are met.
The Role:
• To design and develop aircraft engine fuel and oil system thermal management products.
• Responsible for ensuring that company products meet both customer specification and airworthiness requirements.
• Participates directly in development programmes and functional initiatives.
• Engages in problem solving to improve operational effectiveness.
Specific Accountabilities:
• Interpreting customer specifications and airworthiness requirements to define parameters for heat exchanger design.
• Creation of design data including engineering drawings, 3D CAD models and bills of material.
• Complete calculations to ensure products are within dimensional, material and performance limits.
• Preparation of data to provide technical support for design reviews with customers.
• Work closely with relevant Parker departments and external customers to address queries relating to all aspects of mechanical design.
• Demonstrates service excellence to both internal and external customers by focusing directly on identification and satisfaction of their needs.
Who we are looking for
• Successful completion of a CEng accredited degree with strong Mechanical Engineering content.
• Proven work experience in a product development engineering environment.
Preferred:
• Experience in the use of commercial CAD software systems.
• Knowledge of GD&T principles for component design and assembly.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, forging, casting, CNC machining, welding, brazing and sheet metal forming.
• Understanding of Product Lifecycle Management systems.
