Key Objectives
The selected assessor will perform the following duties:
- Conduct structured competency assessments (practical and theoretical) for the following roles:
- Mechanical Technicians
- Senior Mechanical Technicians
- Mechanical Supervisors
- Mechanical Maintenance Engineers
- Assess skill sets and knowledge related to:
Technical Skills and Knowledge: - Rotating equipment: pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, couplings, bearings, mechanical seals
- Maintenance practices: precision assembly and disassembly, alignment, lubrication, troubleshooting, vibration awareness
- Familiarity with adjacent static components (e.g., valves, piping)
- Familiarity with static maintenance tasks (e.g., welding, sandblasting) relevant to maintenance tasks (Preferable)
Maintenance Execution Readiness and Safety: - Identifying and selecting the correct tools, materials, specifications, and procedures prior to execution of work
- Understanding and applying safe material handling, rigging, and lifting techniques (Preferable)
- Ability to conduct and contribute to risk assessments under a performing authority system, including implementing necessary controls and mitigations
- Identifying all potential risks associated with maintenance tasks prior to execution
Maintenance Management and Improvement: (Preferable) - Accurate recording of work order information, including failure details, improvement suggestions, working time, requests for master data changes, and lessons learned
- Supporting the development of maintenance plans through feedback and observations
- Identifying opportunities for improvements and engaging in basic defect elimination during routine work execution
- Execute assessments in both Arabic and English, ensuring clarity and comprehension for all participants
- Use standardized assessment tools and scoring sheets aligned with performance expectations defined by site Coaches
- Collaborate with Coaches to: A. Align on expected skill benchmarks and job role competency criteria B. Participate in gap analysis and feedback discussions C. Provide input for post-assessment training plan development
- Submit individual written assessment reports in English, including: A. Assessed competency level B. Key observations (strengths and weaknesses) C. Actionable development recommendations
- Comply with safety and plant access protocols throughout the assessment process
QUALIFICATIONS
- Fluent in Arabic and English (spoken and written)
- Minimum 10 years in mechanical maintenance (preferably in oil & gas), with at least 3 years in workplace assessment
- Work experience in Iraq or similar field environments is highly preferred
- Must coordinate with site Coaches to align and execute assessment strategy
- Must hold a valid and recognized workplace assessor certification.
