This Position reports to:
Production Engineering Manager

As a Manufacturing Specialist (Production Development), you will work under the Engineering Service Manager to improve the production of Microlectric enclosures (meter bases) and all related accessories, within the Engineering and Continuous Improvement department of ABB Canada's Iberville plant for the Electrification, Installation Products division.

This is a 12-month contract.

You will focus on optimizing the manufacturing process through standardization of methods and innovation in our procedures.

Your Role: Own the Challenge
  • Define the production process sequence based on material budgets and investments
  • Identify EHS risks with operators and implement appropriate actions to eliminate them
  • Identify performance gaps in relation to quality processes and lead problem-solving workshops with production operators
  • Ensure optimal efficiency of production methods, equipment performance, and materials/components
  • Identify and implement manufacturing process improvements based on cost, safety, and lead time requirements
  • Study new methods, technologies, and design changes in equipment and processes to better meet specifications
  • Define action plans and train resources, maintenance, and production personnel to ensure smooth implementation of new processes and the presence of a qualified and competent team
  • Consult and work with production operators and supervisors to implement changes in production
  • Use LEAN MANUFACTURING concepts to solve problems and eliminate waste in production


What it takes to run what runs the world
  • Technical diploma or bachelor's degree in mechanical OR industrial engineering
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices and adherence to all workplace safety guidelines
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented approach with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of LEAN principles is an asset
