Job Description: Production/Petroleum Engineer

Position Summary: The Production/Petroleum Engineer will be responsible for managing day-to-day field activities, including well and system monitoring, surveillance, and regulatory testing using real-time data and digital tools. The role requires a strong focus on daily monitoring, system optimization, and production enhancement opportunities. This position will support both onshore and offshore operations, contributing to well and reservoir reviews, and optimizing system production through advanced modelling tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily monitoring of riser and well flow rates, differential pressure, temperature, sand, annulus pressure, produced water, flow isolation valves, and other parameters within set limits.
  • Conduct surveillance activities and daily production allocation as the Operations Production Engineer.
  • Support the operations of wells both onshore and offshore within established operating guidelines.
  • Utilize system modelling and optimization tools to identify and advance short- and medium-term production enhancement opportunities.
  • Contribute to well and reservoir reviews, updating and validating models (e.g., PetEx Prosper) to optimize production and ensure accuracy in daily allocations.
  • Execute, validate, and interpret surveillance data, collaborating with the subsurface team to inform surveillance and depletion plans.
  • Understand daily well performance, issue short-term production forecasts, and document production shortfalls in the production management system.
  • Apply Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) techniques to embed learnings and improve operational practices.
  • Coordinate well intervention activities from candidate identification through to planning, execution, and post-job evaluation.
  • Identify and rigorously manage well risks, documenting associated surveillance, barriers, and mitigation measures.
  • Provide clear communication and operational instructions to the offshore team for site execution.
  • Collaborate with the Projects, Wells, and Subsurface teams for field development and integration.
  • Ensure operations technical assurance for the full field, issuing regular well operating guidelines, and supporting daily production optimization in line with reservoir management.
  • Assess well and reservoir performance deviations, explore production improvement options, and identify additional surveillance needs.
  • Support activity planning and validate reservoir and well losses to identify strategies for eliminating future losses and reducing downtime/production losses.
  • Provide technical support and coaching for new well startups and subsea interventions, fostering competency development within the team.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in the energy industry, specifically as a Production/Petroleum Engineer.
  • Strong knowledge of subsurface, interventions, production management, and process facility operations.
  • Excellent communication and integration skills, with the ability to convey complex subsurface topics to stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Awareness of process safety and a commitment to operating discipline.
  • Exceptional prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency in nodal analysis and system management and optimization.
  • Experience with deepwater offshore operations is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in planning and executing complex well interventions.
  • Understanding of flow assurance risks (hydrates, scale, asphaltenes) and associated management strategies.
  • Familiarity with Pressure Transient Analysis.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software and applications.

This role demands a highly experienced and technically proficient engineer who can work effectively in a dynamic and challenging environment.
