What are you going to do

This role will support the world-class Integrated Gas assets within the East Browse basin (Prelude & Crux). This is a key technical position within a multidisciplinary team of production geologists, reservoir engineers, production technologists and petrophysicists.

On a day-to day basis, you will report to the East Browse Subsurface Lead and work closely with the East Browse Subsurface team as well as with subject matter experts and technical assurers to deliver robust subsurface models.

  • Leverage deep familiarity and modelling skills to plan and lead the build of a best technical estimate, as well as probabilistic range, of structural and property models in Petrel (following best practice workflows) for the highly faulted and structurally complex Crux field.
  • Work in an integrated team to identify and implement technically robust and scaled updates to legacy Petrel static models to incorporate latest production (Prelude), or development well (Crux), insights for resource assessment, forecasting and reservoir management.
  • Provide, and communicate the basis of, compliant resource bookings.
  • Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams, with assurers and with global geoscience expertise in support of business deliverables.
  • Support and guide a geographically separate subsurface team to build a new set of Prelude Petrel field static models.
  • Regularly share progress of your model build activities with stakeholders and maintain an evergreen work program to deliver model build activities according to an agreed timeframe.
  • Be able to work in varied capacities including senior individual contributor, technical leader within natural teams and technical coach to less experienced staff.
  • Ensure Production Geology standards are maintained and that best practices are implemented both in your own area of work and via contribution to technical excellence within the Production Geology function of Shell Australia. This will include either leading or participating in model framing events, integrated reservoir modelling review sessions, peer support discussions, static and dynamic modelling reviews etc.
  • The opportunity may exist to support the safe and flawless delivery of the Crux development wells.
