JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently accepting applications for Production Operations personnel with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry. This role will be located on the Terra Nova FPSO to monitor, start-up, shutdown, and prepare process or utility systems. This will be a one-year (12 month) contract, with a 21 day on / 21 day off rotation. The successful candidate will be willing and eligible to travel internationally, if required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Champion and follow all Control of Work processes (permit to work, zero energy lockout)
  • Routine operation and inspection of all related pressure systems and rotating equipment
  • Testing of product quality to set specifications for sales, injection water, produced water, injection gas, potable, and boiler feed water
  • Monitor, control, and perform minor maintenance / adjustments on operating systems
  • Support the PCS Ops to monitor and control of subsea wells, flowlines, and risers according to established procedures
  • Maintain daily computerized Operator Field Tools (OFT) in operating area
  • Perform all routine housekeeping duties in work area
  • Safe and efficient operations in accordance with established procedures and regulations
  • Maintain all regulatory, CAPP and company specific training
  • Report all accidents, near misses and hazardous conditions as per Suncor's standards and the management system (Enablon)
  • Member of Offshore Emergency Response Team as required
  • Maintain daily unit operating logbook for shift records
  • Operate safe and efficient in accordance with established procedures and regulations

Responsible for four working areas:

  • Area 1 - Forward Machinery Space, HVAC and Turret systems
  • Area 2 - Topsides Process Systems
  • Area 3 - Aft Machinery Space, MPGs and Flare systems
  • Control Room - Process Control and Fire & Gas Control Systems

Production Operators will complete the assigned training and competency as outlined for their Area of responsibility; a Production Operator may be assigned to any area at any time, provided he / she has been successfully trained and assessed in that area.



QUALIFICATIONS

The following skills / experience are required for this agreement:

  • Technologist or Industry Certification (3rd or 4th class Marine Engineer, 4th class Stationary Engineer or 4th class Power Engineer or equivalent)
  • Preferably 3-5 years related experience in the petrochemical industry
  • Working knowledge of process separation, gas compression, utility and power generation systems
  • Working knowledge of Control of Work Processes and Systems
  • Familiar with computerized maintenance management systems such as SAP S4
  • Effective communication skills (written, oral and computer)
  • Ability and willingness to train / rotate through all operating units and CCR
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork behaviors
  • Familiar with quality processes and application of Continuous Improvement tools
  • Ability to understand and react with diverse groups and operations and work closely with other individuals in a remote setting
  • Ability and willingness for on-the-job-training from Process Area 1 to Area 2 and Area 3 based on competency evaluation and documentation


For this position, the following training / certifications would be considered and asset:

  • Basic Survival Training (BST) including HUET and HUEBA
  • Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Alive
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015)
  • Offshore Safety Regulatory Awareness
  • Fall Protection
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Emergency First Aid


Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent, heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs)
  • Frequent climbing, standing, stooping and/or bending
  • May require frequent travel aboard helicopters and/or boats
  • Able to meet physical requirements of frequent walking, climbing, standing, bending, twisting and crawling for the duration of the shift
  • Must be able to climb and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, scaffolds and steel framework, utilizing proper fall arrest procedures when required. Able to safely and comfortably work at heights without posing a danger to oneself or others
  • Able to move and work in confined spaces, following proper protocol
  • Must pass a site-specific drug and alcohol test, as required by the customer, as well as CAP Medical
