Overview
The Plant Operator is responsible for monitoring the operation and maintaining the performance of the plant and maintenance on boilers and other related equipment necessary for producing power and heat for the hospital.
What you will do
- Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains all hot water boilers, chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, auxiliary equipment consisting of water pumps, cooling towers, control air compressors, pneumatic/electric control valves, humidifiers, and exhaust fans. Cleans and performs preventive maintenance of boilers by blowing out tubes to eliminate sediment regulates feed water and condensation pumps lubricates pump equipment as appropriate. Monitors Energy Power Plant gauges and meters and takes taking appropriate action when responding to alarms. Test boiler and cooling tower water samples and chemically treats preventing corrosion and scale formation within the system. Monitors and replenishes maintenance inventory based. Coordinates with Lead HVAC/R Mechanic for outside contractors and sub-contractors as required to accomplish maintenance, which may include procuring parts and services. Follows blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping schematics or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units.
- Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance needs ensuring the beautification and upkeep of the Facility. Perform preventative maintenance inspections/tasks per defined interval/schedule in a timely manner and document maintenance concerns/resolutions; providing action plans and status reports as needed. Recognizes and corrects potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions and communicates this to Supervisor, HVAC/R Mechanic. Has a general knowledge of DNV, NFPA, AADMS, ADA, OSHA, local, state and federal codes, requirements or regulations and is in accordance with Riverside policies and procedures. Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, mask, hearing protection, and gloves as needed.
- Operate and maintain a variety of work-related tools and equipment such as power saws, drills, air compressors, and various hand tools required. Responsible for proper care/cleaning of tools, parts, materials, and work area.
- Performs/Assists co-workers outside of related skill when required during manning short falls or in an Emergency situation to include but not limited to: General Facility Maintenance, HVAC/R, Plumbing, and/or Electrical work. Snow Removal. Assist other RRMC departments/units in times of Disaster.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
- Program Graduate, Boiler/HVAC Trade School (Preferred)
Experience
- 2 years Boiler/HVAC or Relevant Experience (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
- Journeyman License in HVAC/R or Plumbing (Preferred)
- Valid Driver's License Required
