JOB TITLE:
Auxiliary Operator - Central Energy Plant
Employees must work varying shifts on a rotating basis; shifts rotate every 28 days and are as follows:
This position has been deemed essential as addressed in the University of Wyoming's Employee Handbook. Employees in essential positions may be required to work during emergency closures and winter closure based on the nature of their job duties and the reasons for the closure.
JOB PURPOSE:
Designated Essential Employee covering the 24/7 operation of campus utilities, where the employee will operate, inspect, and maintain auxiliary equipment and systems at the Central Energy Plant and West Campus Energy Plant to provide heating and cooling needs to campus buildings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:Vocational School, Associate's degree or 2 years of on-the-job experience in an industrial field.

- 3PM-11PM
- 11PM-7AM
This position has been deemed essential as addressed in the University of Wyoming's Employee Handbook. Employees in essential positions may be required to work during emergency closures and winter closure based on the nature of their job duties and the reasons for the closure.
JOB PURPOSE:
Designated Essential Employee covering the 24/7 operation of campus utilities, where the employee will operate, inspect, and maintain auxiliary equipment and systems at the Central Energy Plant and West Campus Energy Plant to provide heating and cooling needs to campus buildings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate and monitor Plant equipment and systems for effective and safe operation.
- Record data noting problems with equipment or system conditions; take necessary corrective actions.
- Conduct required water and pollution control tests to maintain plant, equipment and state standards.
- Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance and repairs including testing diesel generator weekly.
- Assist in restoring plant functions to normal following shutdowns or power failures.
- Monitor and record coal shipments for quality control.
- Remotely monitor equipment at the West Campus Energy Plant. Travel to the West Campus Energy Plant when operational need arises.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
- Receive and relay information to proper personnel on after-hour calls.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematic diagrams and technical documents.
- Maintain designated area in clean and safe operating condition.
- Other duties as assigned.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:
This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:Vocational School, Associate's degree or 2 years of on-the-job experience in an industrial field.
Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:
- Respirator qualification within one month of hire.
- Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years of appropriate vocational schooling.
- Two years of boiler operator experience.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- An ability to be a productive team member.
